Este instrumento aparece drawed en cerámica en Nazca y Chimu, hay porciones de las pinturas antiguas que colocan el Quena. Fue dejado a un lado los cuerpos muertos. Es fron de los ingresos de la voz que el Quichuas expresa o lenguaje (kkena, kjena, khoana) y los medios agujereados. Esta clase de instrumento es común a las culturas primitivas.
