ETGAA April Meeting Highlights Present: Rufus Beamer Wilma Brantley, Presiding & Recording Bob Davis Lynne Davis Laetitia Delmau Ed Dumas Mark Collins Quentin Elkins Max Grogan Anna Miller Don Miller Tom George Mitchell Xen Portwood Barry Sanders Sam Suffern Nathan Woodall Guests: Katherine Woodall, Piper and Sidney; Tom Davis; and Summer Sanders ETGAA Goals and Future Meetings, 2006 - Wilma Brantley distributed our goals for 2006 and proposed that ETGAA no longer conduct formal meetings. Instead she suggested we pursue our goals and events (a great majority of which are monthly), and meet as needed before or afterward. Under this plan, the following members would be responsible for the following events, which she proposed for the first Saturday of the months involved: May 6 - Fly-Out to Winchester-Barry Sanders June 3 - Fly-In Potluck & Election of Officers-Wilma Brantley August 5 - Airplane Wash for Charity-Xen Portwood October 7 - Young Eagles at DKX-Sam Suffern November 4 - Fly-In or Out Somewhere-Barry Sanders/Bob Lusby December 2 - Holiday Potluck-Wilma Brantley Xen Portwood moved to approve this plan. Mark Collins seconded the motion and it was approved by members. Barry Sanders stated that Saturday, May 6, we will leave DKX at about 8:00 AM for breakfast at Winchester Municipal Airport (BGF) and communicate with each other on frequency 122.75. Topic: ETGAA Representative to MKAA Advisory Council for DKX. Sam Suffern reminded members that he would represent ETGAA on MKAA’s formal committee to work on a DKX strategic plan and serve as a forum for customers’ voices. He stated that Trevis Gardner plans to convene the council the week of April 20th and asked members if there were concerns or issues to be addressed. Max Grogan stated that when he returned from a trip to FL, he was locked out of his T-hangar (in shorts at 40 degrees!). When he questioned the FBO staff, he was advised that the locks had been changed. He stated he was given only one key which cannot be duplicated since it is government issue. Duplicate keys cost $10 each from the FBO. Neither he, nor any of the other T-hangar owners to whom he has spoken, were given notice or warning that this was to happen. He still doesn’t know why the locks were changed. Max also requested Sam ask MKAA’s strategy on fuel mark-up since it seems the price of fuel has drastically increased lately. Topic: Nominating Committee - Mark Collins gave a status report. Wilma Brantley will be our President; Max Grogan will be VP; Laetitia Delmau will remain as Treasurer (after her April Fool’s joke that she was quitting); and Leigh Castleberry will serve as PR Chair. We still need the following officers: Secretary, Membership Chair, Welcoming Chair, Safety Chair, Flight Director, and Events Chair. Sam Suffern moved to combine the PR and Welcoming Chairs since they are related, and Xen Portwood seconded the motion which was approved. Mark will contact Leigh and inform her. Contact Thad Phillips thad_phillips@yahoo.com) if you are interested in serving as an officer. Topic: Sheriff’s Open House May 27 - Wilma Brantley stated that she had spoken to Bill Wilson and Tim McClellan of the Aviation Division of the Sheriff’s Department. The Department is having an Open House on Saturday, May 27, at DKX, including an air show, and has invited various flying clubs and the community to attend. Wilma recommended that ETGAA have a booth to solicit membership and talk about our goals. Max Grogan agreed to serve in the booth. Contact Max at n3812b@comcast.net to work with him. Topic: Upcoming Wings Program, April 29 - Don Miller stated that Darrell Sexton asked him to recruit 10 bodies and two T-hangars for the April 29 program. Xen Portwood stated that Wings could have his hangar that day as it has in the past. Wilma Brantley will ask Thad Phillips for his T-hangar as well. Wilma Brantley, Mark Collins, Max Grogan and Sam Suffern agreed to volunteer for the event. If you have questions about the seminar, contact Darrell Sexton at www.etnwings.com or dasexton49@charter.net. Don stated that the EAA will meet this Tuesday, April 4, at Skyranch. Jonathan Foulds will discuss instrument avionics in homebuilts. Don also announced that on April 11, he will discuss ADSB, at Skyranch. Next Meeting: Fly-Out Saturday, May 6, departing DKX at about 8:00 AM for breakfast at Winchester Municipal Airport (BGF) |
