EUCHRE |
Euchre most likely came from the French card game called Juker. The British loved the game but disliked the people so much they changed the name to Euchre. Because of this euchre was introduced to the US in the early 1800's. In 1872 the Joker was made in the US especially for euchre. It was made to serve as a card to beat all. Euchre is popular in the US Navy and they are largely responsible along with other armed forces for the increasing popularity of the game. Despite this many people I know still think it was invented in Ukraine. |
First of all the rank of cards depends on what trump is. Trump is called by one of the players, and is then the most powerful suit. The highest card is the jack of whatever trump is. The next highest card is the other jack of the same color. Then the ace of trump, followed by the king of trump, then the queen, 10, then the 9. Not including trump, cards are ranked with ace as the highest, then king, queen, jack, 10, and lastly the 9. |
