Tomorrow is Not Promised |
|
|
Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, they serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be: your roommate, neighbor, long-lost friend, or even a complete stranger who, when you lock eyes with them, you know that at that very moment they will affect your life in some profound way. And sometimes things happen to you and at the time, they may seem horrible, painful, and unfair, but in reflection, you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential strength, will power, or heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, whether they are events, illnesses, or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, flat, straight road to nowhere, safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless. The people you meet who will affect your life and the success and downfalls you experience, create who you are; Even bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the poignant and important ones. If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because the are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them. Make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love. Break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself; for if you dont, then no one else will believe in you either. You can make your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live in it. Live each day as if it were your last because tomorrow is not promised. |

She glanced his way one moment, a tender look of fear. For their intense star-struck gaze Had not met in more than years.
He greeted her with stock-still eyes Heart coursing amazement As he opened his mouth gently words, Conceived a quiet, loving lament.
"How I've missed you." was all he thought, What he saw was but a dream. For a silent stranger loomed alongside, A face recalled from past schemes.
Once, he had been her blue-blooded love, She, an elegant femme fatale. Pledged to union when snowflakes fell, This wasn't what destiny would tell.
Now to his anguished thoughts he returned, Realizing the past couldn't vary, Echoing in his mind, visions of ecstacy, Forever lost in reverie.
So now he thought, "Why waste my tears, All will stay unchanged." There was no hope for all these years, Of returning to the goddess, fated. |

I had withdrawn in forest, and my song Was swallowed up in leaves that blew away; And to the forest edge you came one day (This was my dream) and looked and pondered long, But did not enter, though the wish was strong: You shook your pensive head as who should say, I dare not--too far in his footsteps stray-- He must seek me would he undo the wrong.
Not far, but near, I stood and saw it all Behind low boughs the trees let down outside; And the sweet pang it cost me not to call And tell you that I saw does still abide. But tis not true that thus I dwelt aloof, For the wood wakes, and you and here for proof. |
