Trick or Treat!

This Halloween as in other years there are a few things we should remember.

1. If you are not handing out candies or treats, turn off your front lighting to indicate you do not want to be disturbed.

2. If you are handing out treats, remember to keep your walkways cleared and visible, the more lighting the better.

3. When driving, be extra alert since many costumes are dark in color and children do not always watch before crossing roads.

4. Never allow children to handle fireworks without adult supervision, preferably let the adults put on the display for the children to enjoy.

5. Keep all pets indoors for the evening, and if you need to walk your dog, use a leash.

Have a safe Halloween... it's the last of this Millennium - Watch for children, and have the time of your life!

Halloween should be a fun time of year, but all too often it ends in tragedy for some families. A little common-sense goes a long ways. It is everyone's responsibility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our children. Please, watch that children are conducting themselves in a safe manner and never allow young children to go Trick-or-Treating alone. Alway inspect all treats before allowing your child to consume them, and to discourage eating of treats along the way, always make sure your child has had a full meal before going out. Check that costumes do not impair visibility or could cause your child to trip. Discourage chldren from running from house to house, ask them to be careful and to watch their footing.

This safety message was brought to you by the Eureka CL Team.

Introducing 'Joe Eureka'

'Joe Eureka' is our fictitious mascot for the Eureka area. He's a homesteader just like yourself, out searching to earn his fame and fortune on the Internet. 'Joe' is a relative newbie, and is learning new skills all the time. Follow his adventures, learn what web tools he's using to achieve his ultimate goals. 'Joe' is actually a narrative tutorial on how to make the most of Yahoo!GeoCities tools, and through his adventures we endeavor to show you which tools are available, and how to make the best use of them.

'Joe' has a mission, he's a retailer and distributor of all kinds of incredible stuff, most have not been successful for 'Joe', but he's determined to achieve his goals. He's no quitter, and has to face some incredible odds. In our first installment, 'Joe' decides that his home page does not bring the attention to his product that he desired, so he's off to market his "Thingamidoo" direct to the world. Travelling from Washington State to New York City, with several stops planned along the way.

'Joe' is brought to you courtesy of the journalistic talents of Brad Hachez, one of our newest CL's. Brad has put a personality to our 'Joe' and has brought him to life, to everyone's enjoyment. I know you will appreciate his style.
