      NEW OPTIONS IN AD DELIVERY  

    Yahoo!GeoCities... Banner vs Box!

    YAHOO!GeoCities have launched the new Ad Box in place of the old pop-up advertising. It launches itself on your main page in the upper right corner with a small advertisement box that closes itself, and the Ad Box toolbar sits waiting for commands. It can be customized to include links to your guestbook and mail, but currently lacks color preference settings. This option is under development and should be available in the near future. The Ad Box incorporates itself on your page instead of launching a new window, and is small in size so it does not obscure the page. Because of it's size and position it can be easily worked into the page layout.

    If you ran the GeoGuide and are a member of the Banner Exchange you will not notice the Ad Box on your page. The Banner Exchange program is still running, although the options available in the toolbar have been removed. It continues to display home page banners and does include commercial advertisements. Y!GC are currently looking at expanding the Banner Exchange program, expect news of changes to be announced in the near future - there is possibility of this being part of a points program. While much larger in size to the Ad Box, the Banner Exchange program does benefit in bringing traffic to your page by displaying your banner to others.

    New Idea For Cursors

     QUICK & EASY PAGE TOOL 

    Comet Cursors offers you the ability to use a variety of image cursors to enhance your page. If you installed the plug-in software on entering this page, you should see a mouse cursor. With a wide variety of cursors for just about any topic it's easy to enhance the appearance of your home page. On entering your page the viewer has the option to install the plug-in and if declined the page uses the default cursor. The cursor is confined to the browser page and does not carry over to the desktop area.

    Once you have placed the cursor coding on your page changing your cursor is easy, simply visit the CometZone page and select another. You can even have several cursors for different pages, CometCursor provides the management tools to check and change cursors with ease. To view the changes you must close all browser windows and reopen. The cursor selection includes animated and seasonal images, and everything from animals to cartoon characters. This is a free service which is a bonus to those web publishers who don't want to have to learn the Java or JavaScript and Layers programming required to get similar results.

    Yahoo!Messenger can now take on a new appearance. Thanks to a group of dedicated graphics volunteers you have the option of making your Messenger take on a theme. If you are a Messenger user you will find that it's easy to change the theme of your messenger to match your every mood. You can download and store as many skins as you would like to use, all you need to do is select the skin you feel like using. If you are graphically inclined and would like to create your own skin the instructions are posted and very easy to follow.

    The skin designs rage from very simple to extremely graphic, and there are several seasonal skins to select from. With well over 100 skins the collection is growing daily. Most of the toolbars have mouseover and onclick effects, and the topics too broad to list. Cheer up your desktop, make it look like a business function, go to where no person has gone before! Share them with the people you chat with. Skin bring your Messenger to life and reflects your personality.
