  • Ethiopians Displaced By Fighting Inundate Town - Report from Adigrat (LA Times) - Ethiopia controls the high ground overlooking Zallambessa... Eritreans badly beaten when they tried to storm up the mountain:

      'At the bottom of the mountain, there are still many Eritrean bodies lying in the sun... The commander's account was corroborated by shepherds and cattle herders on the mountain... One herder boy, perhaps 10 years old, claimed that he had seen about 200 corpses... "They are beaten, so all is quiet now..."'

  • Eritrean Detainees: [Eth. Emb. Press Release] The Ethiopian government is currently holding 140 Eritrean national conscripts at a center in the town of Fiche, about 100 kms from Addis Ababa. Journalists, the ICRC, and other organizations are allowed free access to these detainees who are being held purely for reasons of national security. A number of others who were taken in have now been questioned and released. Eritrea has detained more than 530 Ethiopian civilians and has refused access to them by the ICRC and journalists.
