INTRODUCTION TO THE STATES IN MALAYSIA
The Federation of Malaya gained her independence from the British on
31st August 1957 and became part of the British
Commonwealth. With the inclusion of Sabah, Sarawak and
Singapore on 16th September 1963, the Federation of Malaya
was officially known as Malaysia.
Malaysia successfully hosted the 1998 16th Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur from the 11th to 21st September 1998.
Currently, Malaysia consists of 14 states:
- Federal Territory (Kuala Lumpur and Labuan)
- The State of Perlis
- The State of Kedah
- The State of Pulau Pinang
- The State of Perak
- The State of Selangor
- The State of Negri Sembilan
- The State of Malacca
- The State of Johore
- The State of Pahang
- The State of Terengganu
- The State of Kelantan
- The State of Sabah
- The State of Sarawak
