It began sometime in 1971 when 16 young men and women got together and decided to
found a singing group.  It was to be a group unlike most as their music had to be message-
filled and was aimed to uplift the soul.  The founders were all from the University of the
Philippines (U.P.).  and throught their vision , the State Varsity Christian Fellowship (SVCF)
Singers came to be.  In 1974 and  1975 it won first place in the university-wide annual
HImig Choral competition.  Later, SVCF Singers changed to His Sounds.  In 1980, His Sounds won First Prize, College Division, Regional Level, of the National Music Compeition for Young Artists, a highly prestigious national talent search initiated by the Cultural Center
of the Philippine.  In 1981, His sounds was chosen as on the representatives to the
Second International Choral Festival held in Manila.

Dr. Romulo Pizana received his choral training as a member of the
Manila Concert Choir and later with the U.P. Concert Chorus.
Finally, his musical talents were honed when he joined the world-famous
U.P. Madrigal Singers.  Dr. Pizana earned his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D.
