Contract Technical Writer, on assignment to The Boeing Company
Duties:
Technical documentation of CATIA V5 product suite, a CAD/CAM software used at
Boeing. Writing Business Process documents for process change to common
electrical wiring design/manufacture process. Writing “desktop instructions”
which instruct the reader in use of go-forward software tools for performing the
new common electrical processes. Documenting gaps and workarounds when tool
capabilities do not meet required business process. Preparing documents to required specifications for
company-wide release. Meeting with engineering subject matter experts to gather
required information for documentation project.
Accomplishments:
Assisted the customer in realizing enterprise-wide approach and focus with
regard to business process documentation. Introduced Information Mapping format
to process documents. Produced quality documentation to meet the customer’s
deadlines. Developed configuration control and security solutions for
documentation.

Position:
Staff Technology Trainer; Technical Communications Coordinator
Duties: Originally
hired to provide company-wide technology training support to staff and agents.
Acted as primary point of contact for technology troubleshooting, via
telephone and e-mail (Help-desk). Wrote and produced e-mail newsletter to
educate and inform company staff and managers of technology issues. Wrote
training materials, to accompany hands-on training and as stand-alone documents.
Additional technical writing as needed, for other departments within the
company.
Job duties changed when Help Desk staff was hired in
12/1999. Focus shifted to technical documentation for all departments within the
company, including training materials, procedural documents, reports and other
documents as requested. Wrote and distributed numerous training manuals which
enhance agent and staff use of company software programs. Released updates to
documentation as needed, via electronic newsletter. Formatted documentation for
Web placement or distribution on CD. Conducted technical training for agents and
staff, on-site and at remote locations. Assisted Help Desk with problem
resolution as needed (2nd tier).
Accomplishments:
Designed, wrote and updated numerous training materials, ranging from a manual
for a highly customized accounting and commissions tracking software package, to
technology training materials for real estate agents to learn corporate
Web-based applications, digital image processing or general computer skills.
Many documents were designed for the self-teaching learner. Documents for
instructor-led sessions included student materials, samples, and instructor
outlines. Contributed content for team-produced instructional materials for
agent technology certificate program. Have also written on-line help documents,
marketing documents and offices operations forms. Developed help desk call

Duties:
Hired as Technical Coordinator to train agents in software (Microsoft and
industry specific), maintain office LAN, troubleshoot software and hardware
problems, install and upgrade software and hardware.
As Office Manager, continued providing technology support
and training for agents, monitored computer-based Real Estate Training program,
managed agent web pages, coordinated multiple marketing programs, managed
general office functions (coordinating staff, processing hires, tracking
transactions).
Accomplishments:
As Technical Coordinator, improved network performance by implementing
systematized maintenance schedule, including software upgrades.
Increased agent technology understanding by developing, documenting and
teaching on-site computer training classes. Improved office computer
functionality by researching and recommending new software and hardware, and
creating technical documents for maintenance procedures, LAN operation, and
training. Improved agent marketing
program by creating direct mailing marketing program, including designing
improved marketing materials.
