Much of the information is documented though marriage certificates, death records, census records and many of the different church records.
When I first started my search for ancestors, I was given wrong names, wrong places of birth and did not realize how many different ways the surnames could be spelled!; When I was a child, I would ask my parents about our ancestors and the only information given was, "You do not want to know!" Well, I really DID want to know! As each new discovery is made, and a line is unraveled, it usually leads to still another brick wall. Don't ever be intimidated by those brick walls!! Pick away at them and they will come tumbling down much faster than they were built! If you get on a certain person, go to other people you know are connected to that person. It is amazing what you will discover! I started with a fence post and a brick wall. Thanks to so many people, I now have a Family Tree!

I found one of the reasons why the wrong name was applied to the mother of Luella Jane Fish. On the U.S. 1880 census for CA, Luella is found residing with her aunt Maria Fish. On this census, she is marked as being the daughter of Maria. Documentation is of the greatest importance, because Luella's Death Record showed who her parents really were.
