I was born in Lake Arthur, a small town in Southwest Louisiana, November 23, 1935. My family moved to Vivian, a small town in Northwest Louisiana in 1953. I've lived here ever since. Married to Lester Morgan, this long suffering man and I have six grown children, seven wonderful grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Professionally speaking, I am a member of the national organization, Romance Writers of America, plus I’m a member of From the Heart, an online RWA chapter. I am a former member of North Louisiana Romance Writers, Inc. where I served as Publicity Chairman, Newsletter Editor, and Tape Librarian at various times. I also am a member of the World Romance Writers and Southern Charm, a private writers group. I have judged the RWA Golden Heart contest as well as other RWA and independent writer’s groups’ contests. I am a member of a critique group and attend writer's workshops and conferences at every opportunity. I studied journalism at LSU, Baton Rouge, and also took a correspondence course in writing fiction offered by the Famous Writer's School, Westport, Connecticut. My first book, MAGNOLIA HOUSE, was released April 2001 by RFI-west.com, a multi-media publishing company in electronic downloads. Now, MAGNOLIA HOUSE is also available in print. A second book, FOR THE WEEKEND, has also been contracted by RFI-west.com. Both of these books are romantic suspense genre. FOR THE WEEKEND will be released sometime during the spring of 2002. I am currently working on another mainstream thriller, a Civil War mini-series detailing the War Between the States within my home state of Louisiana, and revising another historical romance set in 1870 entitled LEARNING TO LOVE. Another project I’ve undertaken is a joint venture with three other writers which will be a Women’s Fiction book with characters who share common goals and interests. Debi McMartin writing as Deborah King and I have written a screenplay, a true crime book and a mainstream thriller. The true crime, entitled STONE JUSTICE, will shortly be published through 1st Books Library.com. It will be available in print and electronic versions in September 2001. We are using the pen name of Lawrence King for our joint works. Debi and I will start work in January on a new mainstream thriller and a new screenplay. We are in the pre-writing, planning and research stage of these projects. |
