Kansas City Spirit Festival, Lazer New Rock Amphitheatre 5/9/98

An excellent show with many songs rarely performed live.

'Street Justice' is a Twisted Sister cover, 'Pansy' has Public Enemy lyrics midway through and while Paw are playing an Instrumental towards the end, Hennessy recites the lyrics from Pink Floyd's 'Mother'. The show ends with teh favoured Nirvana cover 'School'.

This show featured more songs for the imminent EP release, 'Home is a Strange Place'
A rare performance of 'Texas' and the unreleased 'Betty & Mike', also known as 'Innocuous', performed at CBGB, New York with Steve Tulipan on vocals. They lyrics are different as Hennessy had re-written Steve's version.
This may be something to do with the comment made by Mark Hennessy on Steve re-writing some of Mark's lyrics, and also Steve calling Jessie, Mark's dog which inspired the 'Dragline' song 'Jessie', a 'motherfucker'. Mark was not happy with this.

Basically Paw without Mark. Very much like the song "Texas" and "Last One"

Track 4, 'Substance of the Saints', is a re-work of 'St Jude', a 'Home is a Strange Place' outtake but with a softer sound and different lyrics.

Originally, this album was released through Outlaw Records and only available from the band themselves through their, now defunct, official website.

The album is no longer sold anywhere.

A CD of b-sides/covers/rarities the band released themselves. It was sold online for a short time and at their shows. "Slowburn" and "The Bridge" are from the BBC Radio One session. "Street Justice" is a Twisted Sister cover, recorded July '98, supposedly for the soundtrack to Dee Snider's movie Strangeland (it didn't make it, however). "30 Days" (previously unreleased) and "Imaginary Lover" are from the Odor Chair Sessions. "Remora" is a previously unreleased track from '94 that includes a clip of the Allman Brothers.
