In 1959 a television series was filmed in Mexico.It ran in twelve 25 minute installments.K Gordon Murray bought it and recut it into 4 movies.They were The Curse Of Nostradamus, The Monster Demolisher,Genie Of Darkness and Blood Of Nostradamus.
Curse Of Nostradamus introduces us to Professor Dolan who is the head of a society to abolish superstition.Nostradamus introduces himself and orders Dolan to revindicate his ancestor's name.Dolan refuses and the vampire announces that he will kill 13 prominent people.One of the creepier scenes comes when a man is buried alive.He is silently screaming for them not to close the coffin lid...but they do anyway.
The Monster Demolisher has Dolan running into trouble with his friends.He warns them about the vampire and they think he has been indulging in recreational chemicals.The vampire kills a few more folks and we're introduced to Nostradamus' life long enemy, Igor.
Genie Of Darkness is the best of the bunch.Nostradamus burns his hunchback helper's mother alive.Then he uses a ghost in a murder plot.But he is thwarted by the ghost as she actually uses Nostradamus to get what she wanted all along.Igor confronts the vampire and is about to kill him.But the hunchback Leo snaps his spine.
Blood Of Nostradamus is the grand finale of the series.The vampire vows to kill the local police chief.This isn't so bad as the guy is a stone prick,When he survives the night he and his men get roaring drunk.But the vampire uses a solar eclipse to force a fatal shootout.
The vampire kills an actress and almost kills Dolan's daughter.He slaughters a friend of Dolan.Then he turns the townspeople against the Professor.They burn down his house and are about to burn him at the stake.Will the vampire win?Will Dolan be burned alive?If so, do you want your ribs medium or well done?
This is a lot of fun until about half way through Blood.Then it gets a little tedious.While it isn't up to the standards of El Vampiro or World Of The Vampires, it isn't a bad series.
