Voodoo Woman & The She Creature
Another film brought to you by Ed Cahn.He did actually lens a few films that were watchable for the right reasons. This one is probably one of his best. This quickie was made to cash in on the "Bridey Murphy" reincarnation craze.
Professor Lombardi (Chester Morris)hypnotizes Andrea(Marla English)sending her back through past  lives. He sends her all the way back until she was a sea creature from the pre historic days. This creature is under his control and kills wantonly. The creature suit is a fondly remembered favorite made with a few dollars and a lot of genius by Paul Blaisdell. In fact I would go as far to say that this is THE monster suit of all time.
Chester Morris acts like he's ready to foreclose on the mortgage to the orphanage.A very far cry from his Boston Blackie days. The bags under his eyes looks like luggage. He spends most of his time looking grim and drooling over Marla's supine body. Her acting is confined to holding her breath and trembling.Good enough for me!
Frankly, Lance Fuller as the hero is scarier than anything in this picture. He acts as if he's only
visiting this dimension for a short time. He appears to act as if his lawn furniture has come to
life and he's not sure if it is reality or he's still stoned.Probably needs just a little more
time to stare thoughtfully into the camera...I swore the deck chair just winked at me!
Ron Randall as a policeman does the worst Humphrey Bogart impression I've ever seen.Tom Conway who played the Falcon is in this as well.He does a nice job as the businessman who sees that some real money can be made with Lombardi and exploits him albeit willingly. One of the doctors in a scene was played by one of the villains who starred in a majority of the Three Stooges reels.I kept expecting Moe & Curley to show up.Spread out!!
Again this one moves along quite briskly and is fun to watch, even if only for the wrong reasons.
Let's face it, this is a below average film. However if you go in ready to accept that you
can survive the experience.Okay, you'll scream in agony a lot but you may even have a little fun.
African jungle fun in a dopey kind of way.I try and watch it whenever I can.
Tom Conway (who spends most of the film wearing a funky chapeau) is using the local witch doctor
and mad science to create a "perfect" being. It looks like a varmint that has been on a six week
drunk and is in a sack dress.Ugly is being kind. But it won't kill for him because he's using a
good girl as his subject. He needs a bad bad girl.
On a side note the witch doctor's name is Chaka.Kind of made me want to burst out into song.Chaka,
Chaka Kahn, Chaka Kahn, I feel for you! Heh heh heh.
Marla English and Lance Fuller are two petty crooks in search of African gold.Maybe a better plot
should have been at the top of the search list.Marilyn Blanchard is  a bad girl and lets everybody
know it in a performance that I have come to enjoy upon repeated infliction, I mean viewing.Lance
Fuller plays Rick Brady, her disposable love puppet.Mike "Touch" Connors is the white guide English
& Fuller con into leading the expedition.
English & Conway finally meet and it is a match made in hell. She is the perfect subject to become
his voodoo creature because she'll do anything (stress anything) to get what she wants. She wants
the gold idols that the natives have and the doc wants a killing machine.
What made this movie interesting for me was Conway wearing that funky tribal hat/headdress/floral
piece!Still trying to figure out what kind of dead animal it was.Guess he thought if he pulled it
down low enough over his eyes nobody would recognize him.
Truly bad voodoo indeed.Catch it if you can.
