Dracula Prince Of Darkness gives Barbara Shelley a great role.She goes from repressed wall flower to a sexy throat biter.
This film was not loved by Chris Lee.He is often quoted as saying the dialogue was unspeakable.Henceforth Dracula says nary a word but does hiss a lot.
The film does have a standout performance by Andrew Kier as the unorthodox vampire hunter.
This production is handsomely photgraphed and the musical score is one of the best of the Hammer vampire series.The first 45 minutes of this film is far superior to most of the films that would follow this series.
However after Ms Shelley is staked the film falls into what I feel is a predictable rut. Dracula just goes looking for groceries and it is almost a retelling of the last half hour of Horror Of Dracula.
