Let Sleeping Corpses Lie
LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE aka Don't Open the Window aka Breakfast At Manchester Morgue aka Living Dead At Manchester Morgue

This movie has more titles than most and that obscures it. "Don't Open
The Window" was tacked on to cash in on "Don't Look In The Basement" causing
viewers to pass on it which is a shame. This is not a twelve dollar movie about a madhouse.
This has been called an English/Spanish Night Of The Living Dead knock off.Got
news for you, it is a better movie than NOLD and ranks just behind Dawn Of The
Dead.
Testing a new pesticide by sound waves attacks the nervous system of the
young and the "mentally unstable".( The scene of a young child biting a
doctor on the hand is rather unsettling). It also causes the newly dead to
walk and look for human groceries.Unlike other zombie flicks where the
creatures can be killed via head injuries, nothing stops these monsters.
The sound waves keep them mobile.
Rather than go into the plot in detail which is simple enough I want to
hit what is really excellent about this film.

There are some very stark images and terrifying scenes in this
movie. There is the lush beauty of the English countryside. In one scene we are treated
to a rolling pastoral setting with a rushing stream. There is also a
shambling corpse making its way across this area in stark contrast is like blood on a baby's face.
There is an extremely terrifying scene where people are trapped in a
crypt with the monsters trying to get in from the outside. The corpses inside
the crypt are after them as well.It looks like there is no way
out.
There is out and out zombie insanity in a hospital when the dead attack
from the outside and from the morgue. There is a real feeling of no hope
while the denizens of the building are fighting for their lives. The gore
flows unchecked.
This movie sure isn't about hope and survival. While it mines the 1950's
vein of man's technology getting the better of him it doesn't hit you over
the head with it in a preachy way.You don't need a cast member to intone
this. You can see we're on an unchecked rocket ride to hell
The soundtrack is excellent along with the cast, the direction
and photography.Only the title changes drag this down a bit. See it if you
can and if you have a strong stomach because this gets quite gory.
