Chachita's Biography: Evita Munoz 'Chachita' was born on November 26th, 1936 in Orizaba Veracruz, Mexico. Before she turned 4 years old she was already in front of the cameras making the picture 'El Secreto del Sacerdore' ('The Priest's Secret'), with Arturo de Cordoba and Pedro Armendariz. In her second feature film, 'Ay Jalisco, no te Rajes! ('Jalisco, Don't Backslide'), with Jorge Negrete and Gloria Marin, she was given the affectionate nickname of "Chachita". With her precousious talent she continued starring in the movie 'Morenita Clara' playing the role of a 'Tiny itsy singin' gypsy', wich turned her into the Greatest Child Star during the 'Golden Age' of Mexican Cinema. To promote her film 'La Hija del Payaso', in wich she trained elephants, played scenes with canine co-stars, she learned to play the Marimba and the Xylophone live during the performances, and made personal presentations in the Atayde Circus at the tender age of 8. She continued with tours around Cuba, the U.S., Central and South America. In Santiago de Chile she filmed 'Yo Vendo unos Ojos Negros'. Radio shows (XEW-MEXICO) and a Children Adventure Serial written and directed by Carlos Montalban (Ricardo Montalban's brother) and recorded in New York City. During her teens, she became an absolut Super Star in Mexico and abroad, when she shared credits with a then little known actor & singer who hadn't found much success in the movies...yet: Pedro Infante, in one of the first Cinematic Trilogies ever made in all the History of Mexican film-making: 'Nosotros Los Pobres' (1947), (aka: 'We, the poor'); 'Ustedes Los Ricos' (1948), (aka: 'You, the Rich'), and 'Pepe, el Toro' (1953), (aka: 'Pepe The Bull). The list of her movies adds up to more than 60, over a 60 year span. When television started out 50 years ago, 'Chachita' became one of its first Stars, daring to be bold enough to do something that at the time appeared to be a leap back, instead of one forward, as her experience and good judgement told her to move on to the t.v. screen, where she has continued to enjoy great success while still counting with her fans' support. Internationally, she has participated in a wide variety of projects, such as: 'Romancing The Stone' (1984) (Beating Danny DeVito up) 'Columbo: A Matter of Honour' (1976) (Peter Falk and Pedro Armendariz Jr) In the U.S. she's been seen in tv commercials for: Raid's: 'Roach Motel' 'Ziplock' Freezer Bags |
