| Eastern Will County Senior Services Transportation Program Information & Guidelines |
| Transportation is available Monday though Friday only. You MUST be a senior citizen or a person with disabilities.. The cost is a suggested donation, whatever you can pay. The minimun fare is $2.00 one way, $4.00 round trip within Will county east of Route 45. Leaving Will County and traveling west of route 45 is a minumum fare of $8.00. SPECIAL TRIPS have a set charge: Lincoln Mall Multi stop $8.00: Once a Month special shopping trip $10.00. PRIORITIES: Medical appointments have priority over all others. 1. Medical treatment for serious life supporting and life threatening conditions. Example: kidney dialysis, radiation, chemotheraphy 2. Medical - doctors, clinic, hospital, theraphy appointments, & prescription pick up 3. Hot lunch program at EWCSS in Monee and Meals on Wheels. 4. Handicapped runs. 5. Center events and special trips. 6. Grocery shopping/post office. 7. Beauty salons & barber shops - when there is room on the schedule & only in your immediate area or township. No traveling out of the area. Visiting to a hospital or nursing home only and if we can fit it into our schedule. Transportation hours are between 8:30 am & 4:30 pm. All buses have to be returned to EWCSS be 4:30 pm. You may not have appointments earlier that 10 am. We must allow for the driving and drop off time for returns. All appointments must be made between 10:00 am & 1:30 pm. If you must have a late afternoon appointment, we will take you there. You must arrange a return ride home for yourself. To arrange transportation, you must call at least 24 hours in advance. You must call before 1:30 pm for the next day. That is our cut off for scheduling. Appointments may be made two weeks in advance. Reservations are taken on a first come, first serve basis. Beauty shop appointments and shopping may be canceled for a priority medical appointment. When we are booked up, you may be asked to reschedule your appoitment. You may be asked to reschedule appointments due to maintenance problems or lack of staff. During these times your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated. Riders must be ready 30 minutes in advance of their appointment time. Also remember the driver may run late due to weather or traffic conditions. The driver can wait no longer than five minutes. IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE READY WHEN WE PICK YOU UP!!! BUS ETIQUETTE No smoking--do not ask! Do not distract the driver with loud outburts. Do not stand or walk around while the bus is moving. Do not harass other passengers, verbally or physically. Do not crowd other passengers. Do not take up two seats with bags, packages, purses, etc. Three bags of groceries or purchases per person only! (No more than you can carry.) Drivers can refuse to take you home if you have more than three bags. If you leave anything on the bus, an extra charge will be asked for recovering and delivering it to you. | You may call (708) 534-2323 to make reservations for transportation if you live in Eastern Will County and you are a senior or a handicapped individual. We can only provide transportation to neighboring areas. Call if you have a questions about our transportation or to arrange a ride. When making reservations you will be asked your name, address where you live (where you will be picked up from & delivered back to,) your phone number (so we can call you with your pick up time,) the address of your destination, your doctor's name & phone number (if it is a doctor's appointment,) the date of your appointment, and the time of your appointment. We need to know if you are in a wheelchair or will need the lift, so we can send the right vehicle to pick you up. We also need to know if you will have an escort with you to help you. If you have an appointment at the hospital or clinic we need to know what department you will be in, so we know how long you will be there and so we can find you if we need to. |
