 | After completion of the "A" series of flights, I was ready to move on to a rocket powered by a much larger motor. Refered to simply as the "C" motor, it had a machined steel nozzle, with a capacity of 400 grams (indeed, it was the precursor of the C-400 motor). This inaugural "high power" flight, according to my log, was impressive: "upon ignition a cloud of smoke appeared at the base of the rocket and immediately lifted off with tremendous speed". The rocket climbed nearly out of sight, estimated at over 2500 feet (760 metres). |
