PHOTO 68 -- Flight C-17 : June 18, 1980


With just a few hundred feet left to descend before a safe ending after a "textbook" flight, the rocket for Flight C-17 dangles serenely under the three foot canopy of its recovery parachute.
This photo was taken through a 200 mm lens. Touchdown was, in fact, some 1500 feet (450 metres) from the launch site...
