 | By this time, the physical appearance of the rockets had pretty much matured, and did not vary much from flight to flight. Uncomely and functional! The rocket nosecone was invariably retained by three strips of masking tape. This served the important function of allowing pressure to build up within the ejection cylinder (after ignition of the charge) to ensure a forceful ejection of the nosecone and attached parachute. Despite annoying problems such as glitches with setting the backup timer for the parachute system, a set of dead batteries in the 8-mm movie camera, and a malfunctional tape-recoder, the launch and recovery went without a hitch. |
