This horse head was sculpted from the cliff wall, inside a fisure in the bed rock, near and facing a sealed dead end. To the rear of the horse about thirty feet sits an african lion. The fisures are in the shape of a cross when viewed from above, with a "gateway" being the top of the cross, the lion sits looking down the stem of the cross, on your right as you enter. When the horse is viewed from the proper prospective, through a crack forty feet away, it shows to have wings, and as can be seen above , a pronounced gotee. This is showing to be common at many sites and sometimes is represented on a massive scale over 100ft tall and 300ft long comprised of entire cliff walls.
The growth of lichen on the surface and condition of tarnish as compared to the surrounding cliff is an indicator of its age.
