Members are 14 through 21 years old.
There are opportunities for promotion through the Explorer ranks.

At Explorer meetings we plan activities, prepare for upcoming events, obtain vital information about law enforcement protocol and train. (Training is a huge part of Explorer meetings. Sworn police officers in charge of the meetings have Explorers do lots of hands on training which closely replicates what happens in the field.)
Opportunities exist for Explorers to ride along with an officer on patrol.
The Explorer post provides many community services related to law enforcement and public safety.
Starting in 2005, the Germantown Police Explorer Post will be participating in local, regional, and if we are good enough, national competitions. At these competitions, Explorers are judged in the skills of crime scene investigation, traffic accident investigation, drill and ceromony, etc.
