Wicita Fire Department & Sedgwick County Fire Department Explorer Post 881
The Wichita Fire Department Explorer Post 881 started in 1974 by a group of firefighters to introduce young men and women to the great world of the fire service.
The Post has produced firefighters and fire officers on both the Wichita and Sedgwick County Fire Departments.  The Wichita Fire Department has supported this program by supplying the explorers with a Rescue Squad.  They maintain the equipment and the truck itself, along with their turnout gear.
The Explorers assist with outside operations, such as hose operations, rolling hose and loading of that hose. They also help with dutys such as Clean up and overhaul.
The Advisors are comissioed Firefighters with both the Wichita and Sedgwick County fire departments.
Explorers range in age between the ages of 14 and 21.  Explorers train weekly and respond to a variety of emergency incidents throughtout the city and county.
The Post meets at 31st Street South and Oliver, 4780 E. 31st South at the Wichita Fire Department Training Academy.  Meetings start at 7pm every Wednesday evening.  Come to a meeting and talk to an Advisor for more details.  You can also email the post at:
