|| Darker Days... ||

[Foreword] The days have been black… and the nights even blacker. Time seems to have come to a stand still since the unholy union passed between Anarchy Kid and I... I’m biting my nails with anticipation. Because in the back of my mind I’ve realized that the darkest of days have yet to arrive.

Alas, that's not the terrifying part... Not knowing trifles me beyond all means. If his doing was simply clarified with me before hand, living would be much easier. And yet....... life isn't meant to be easy.

[Scene] The scene opens in a family diner establishment in downtown Chicago. It's precisely 10 in the morning on a Friday. Josh Sutton has arrived back in his hometown, jet lagged beyond all means of the phrase. He seems to be eagerly awaiting someone's presence as he fidgets wildly in his seat. Beads of nervous sweat stream down his brow, landing in a puddle on the poorly cleaned table in front of him. The sound of a door being opened can be heard and the outside traffic becomes more apparent, only to be shunned by the closing. Heavy footsteps bound on the floor as Victor Blood makes his way over to Josh's table, a grimaced expression on his face. He carefully slides into the booth across from Josh, keeping his eyes locked. Sutton's sweating increases to the point that he has to dab it with a napkin. Victor crosses his arms, leaning in and speaking.

Blood: Well... I'm here. No welcome from you, thanks. What the hell do you want?

Sutton: Look, I realize it was a mista...

[Scene] Victor slams his fist onto the table, breaking Sutton's concentration and sentence.

Blood: You're God damn right it was a mistake. What did I tell you?

Sutton: Look, I'm not here for a lectu...

Blood: Shut your bloody mouth and listen to what I have to say. I was brutally disrespected at the tongue of your "better" half. That doesn't bode well with me, considering I clearly stated my disdain for his summoning.

Sutton: It wasn't my fault... He tricked me.

Blood: What's wrong? Couldn't handle the pressure of what millions of your kind deal with every day? A little bit of tough luck and you're ready to sacrifice yourself and everyone around you. For what?

Sutton: A little peace at mind.

Blood: Peace at mind? Are you fucking mad?! He's wretched mentally personified.

Sutton: What the hell am I supposed to Vic?

Blood: Sever ties with him, as you did in the past.

What's all the commotion out here?

Sutton: Bad timing...

Blood: Oh for God's sake... He's not real Josh! He's a figment of your bloody imagination. Don't you understand that?

Oh, it's that guy. I thought we got rid of him?

[Scene] Victor's voice falls into the background as Sutton enters into conversation with the 'inner child'.

Sutton: As I told you the other night, we didn't, you did.

Me, You... We're the same, Josh. Don't you get it?

Blood: Are you even listening to me?

Sutton: Yes... Yes... Continue.

Blood: You're a terrible liar... Always have been. I can't take this anymore. Do me a favor... Get your shit together mentally and then give me a call, we'll do business.

[Scene] Victor stands and heads for the door. Sutton lunges to his feet but it's as if something is holding him back.

Sutton: Vic... Victor, wait! Damn!

Looks like it's just you and me again...

Sutton: Joy... Well, I'm "proud" to say that these are my darker days...

Relax... The darkest have yet to come.

Sutton: Exactly what I feared the most...

I thought we established that your biggest fear was failing?

Sutton: Apparently you weren't slipped my sarcasm gene.

Sarcasm isn't big on the 'inside'... Get it... On the inside... Ahh, nevermind. Let's get the hell out of this dump. This is way too low class, even for you.

Sutton: Touché, asshole.

[Scene] Josh Sutton stands up, running directly into a waitress. Hot coffee splashes everywhere. Sutton walks off as if it went unnoticed. The waitress screams and falls to the floor, holding her eyes as she wallows in the hot liquid. The scene fades with a sadistic laugh from an unknown source.
