History of Extreme Winter Guard | ||||||||||||
In 2002, Extreme Independent Winter Guard was formed from members of Bacone College guard in Muskogee, Muskogee High School Guard, and Northeastern Oklahoma State University Guard in Tahlequah. The first show was entitled "Totally Janice"-a tribute to the music of Janice Joplin. They competed as an Independent A guard and placed 2nd at the 2002 MAPAA circuit championships. In 2003, Extreme made the shift from Independent A to Independent World. The show was entiltled "Crash" and used music by Dave Matthews Band. The shift from 2002 to 2003 was great, and the guard did very well. Extreme finished the season with a first place trophy at MAPAA circuit championships. They also recieved the "Sportsmanship award" at circuit championships. In 2004, Extreme made the shift back to Independent A with a few other minor changes. The home base for Extreme shifted from Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Collinsville; Ben Spreiter took over as the director for Extreme; and Eric Daugherty joined the staff as a tech..The show utilized music by Eva Cassidy and ended in an all-white flag feature. This has been the most successful year so far for Extreme. The guard finished 4th at the Tulsa WGI Regional and placed 2nd at MAPAA Circuit Championships.. Extreme continues to grow and improve each year. The guard has quickly become the premier independent guard in Oklahoma in just 3 years of existence. In 2005, we plan to attend the Denver Regional and hopefully WGI championships in Dayton, Ohio. Come see us perform in 2005! |
