Dear Diary...

Auguest 21, 2004 It has been a while since I have updated, so I thought I'd better say something here! Things have been going okay for me lately. I'm still working at Directv, but actively searching for something else. Nearly two and a half years have passed since my surgery, and I'm half the woman I was when I started this journey... It still amazes me every single day! I don't often say enough to my family and friends about how much I appreciate all the support you've given to me. Thank you so much!!! I love you! July 11, 2003 I am absolutely loving this summer! I never thought I would actually say that...since I've always hated this time of year in the past. But for some reason, now it's not so bad. :) I'm just working away at my job, and enjoying my weekends off! I have something planned every weekend this month! I can't believe I've come so far... It's truly a miracle... March 19, 2003 Things are going so amazingly well for me. I am so much more healthy and happy than I've ever been before. All of these things that I wasn't sure I'd be able to experience in my life, I'm finally able to do. Simple things like crossing my legs or being able to walk without being in pain, or tying my shoes with little effort. I love it!! I am so glad that I had the surgery. It's been a great year! Thanks for all of your love and support! September 8, 2002 Well, I finally got a job, and have been in training for a whole week already. I am going to be an Entertainment Consultant for DirecTV in their call center. So far it is going great! I'll try to update again soon...but so far it's just a lot of hard work in the classroom. Kind of taxing, considering I haven't been doing much "brain work" the past 8 months... ;) August 20, 2002 I went to the support group meeting last night. Before that I met with the other three DS patients of Dr. Oakley's. These women are such a great support for me! It's so nice to be able to sit and talk with someone who has gone through exactly what I'm going through. They are all so wonderful and caring. I know that I made the right decision!! August 19, 2002 I've been spending a lot of time lately trying to decide what I need to do with my life. I want so much to be able to share my story with others... Maybe I'll have to write a story, or even a book about my experience. I know there has to be someone out there who would love to hear about the success I've had! August 18, 2002 I am consistently amazed at how much things have changed for me. Every day it is something new. Whether it's being able to physically move easier, or feeling better physically, or mentally being stronger...all these things are what I was needing. I feel like I finally do have a second chance at life, and I have never been more ready for those changes. As of last Wednesday, I have lost a total of 120 pounds since my surgery on March 29, 2002. Hard to believe that I have lost that much in less than five months. But I'm not complaining! I'm doing grrrr-eat!!
