MINUTES OF 02/2/05 MEETING
Meeting was called to order by Donald Vorrath at 7:00 p.m. Attendance sheet is enclosed.
Richard Earle announced that he has talked to Chris Ortloff, and Mr. Ortloff has been reading the articles in the newpapers. He stated he has been having meetings and is supporting us. Richard also advised us that Betty Little has sent us a letter regarding supporting ATV's. He stated NYSORVA is still trying to stay alive.
The $45 registration fee was questioned again and Dan Crippen gave us information on this issue.
Dave Rhodes made a motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting. Second by Robert Fish. Motion carried.
Larry Fleury handed out treasurers reports for December and January (both enclosed). Gerry Leroux made motion to accept the treasurers reports. Second by Dave Rhodes. Motion carried.
Larry announced that the ATV races, pulls and mudbogging will be held the weekend of June 11th and 12th at the Townline Tavern. A committee meeting was held January 13th. They went over the different tasks at hand, such as advertising, food, raffles, parking, etc. Mike Harder went over the times he would like to have for the events. Mike states he is 99% sure Roberts Sports Center will sponsor 2 lanes and he is going to check with him. The admission fee will be $5.00 and this $5.00 goes to Mike. The spectator fee is $5.00 and this will go to Ross Sutton. FAR will receive the proceeds from the concession stand and raffles. FAR also receives $5.00 from each racer on the first race. There is going to be a need for many volunteers for help with food, parking, cleaning up, selling tickets, etc. Ron Phelix suggested sending out postcards to all members requesting volunteers. Another committee meeting will held February 16th at Tony's at 7:00p.m.
The ATV petitions have been handed in.
Dog Sled races are being held February 26th and 27th. Richard is trying to solicit help for this event.
Richard handed out information on ATV insurance. Copy is attached. This ATV insurance was discussed. Jerry Gillmett addressed the ATV problem with the 3 legislators that were present. Ray Susice advised us he would try to address this issue at the next legislator's meeting.
Richard advised us that Bill Hungerfbrd would make us another pine bench to raffle off.
March 26th is the first ATV spring fling at the Trailside.
16 FAR hats have been sold so far.

MINUTES OF 03/23/05 MEETING
Meeting called to order by Ron Phelix, President. Attendance sheet attached.Richard Earle distributed hand-outs and newspaper articles. Trailside Spring Fling being held on Saturday. March 26th. Richard asked that we wear our vests if we participate. April 23 is Belly's poker run.
Motion made by Bob Fish to accept the last months minutes. David Tavernia second. Motion carried.
Treasurers report was read by Larry Fleury, Treasurer. Motion made by Dave Rhodes to accept. David Tavernia accepted. Motion carried. Treasurers report attached.
Larry Fleury reported to the upcoming fund raiser. A committee meeting was held in February on the upcoming ATV races being held on June 11th and 12 . Posters were passed out and committees were named. This event is being held at the Townline Tavern. Information can be found on the internet at www.atvspecialevents.com. For further information call Mike Harder at 6077851330 or Larry Fleury at 5184834119. Dave Tavernia will accept donations for raffles. Larry announced that Robert's Sport Center is sponsoring Saturday's races. Larry will contact Ross Sutton, owner of Townline Tavern and have another committee meeting within the next couple weeks. The Chamber of Commerce will advertise as much as they can for this event.
$500 was donated to the Chamber of Commerce for the sled dog races and as this event was cancelled, the $500 was given back to FAR by the Chamber.
Hat sales: FAR bought 72 hats, and these hats have either been sold or passed out. More have been ordered. Richard will take some to the Trailside to sell during the Spring Fling.
DEC will be having meetings on DEC policy on ATV's. Richard was urging people to hold up on their registration renewal until we get a trail system and results. There will be a meeting on March 30th in Watertown. DEC will be in Tupper Lake on April 27th at the Tupper Lake High School for a meeting for public comment. A motion was made by Dave Rhodes that Richard Earle advertise with the local media regarding this meeting and use the money needed for this out of FAR funds at his own discretion. Second by Jody Warriner. Motion carried.
The FAR annual meeting will be held at the St. Regis Falls Sportsman Club on May 1st at 1:00p.m. Richard will get a list of who is up for election for directors and bring to the April meeting.
The next monthly meeting for FAR will be April 13th at the Red Tavern at 7:00 p.m.
Richard read different correspondence and letters he had received. Larry and Richard suggested that our newsletter be copied and be passed around to different businesses, Business posters have been passed out and we were reminded to patronize these businesses.
Richard announced a proposal for a paid position for FAR. FAR needs someone to do secretarial, clerical and media work. There are special mailings that need to go out to state officials, legislators and clubs. A motion was made by Dave Rhodes to hire someone to do this work for FAR at the rate of $50 monthly. Second by Dave Tavernia.
Motion was carried. Richard will make up a list of the duties for this person.
Dan Crippen, Franklin County Legislator, announced that the legislators would do resolutions to support ATV's. He asked for suggestions. April 7th is the next legislator's meeting, but the suggestions must be received by March 31st. There is $5000 in the budget that the legislators is trying to become available to us. Richard stated he would get the information available to the legislators by March 31st.
Tom McClane announced that the Abijah Creek Hunting Club was sponsoring a benefit ride on May 14th and 15th and the proceeds will be used for renovations to the club. The cost is $59 per person and $25 for anyone 16 and under. This included overnight accommodations . meals and 1500 acres of trail riding. It is a mini poker run. The club is taking reservations for a maximum of 15 riders. This club is located in Jefferson County and a group will be leaving Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m. from Moira. Larry Fleury requested permission to purchase a fax machine/copier with FAR funds. Richard Earle made a motion he purchase this machine and it will be owned by FAR. David Tavernia seconded. Motion carried.

MINUTES OF 04/13/05 MEETING
The meeting was called to order by President, Ron Phelix. Attendance sheet is attached.
Bob Fish made a motion to accept minutes from previous meeting. Second by Dave Tavernia. Motion was carried.
Treasurer's report was read by Larry Fleury, Treasurer. Gerry Leroux made motion to accept the report. Second by Dave Tavernia. Motion carried. Treasurer's report is attached.
Larry announced that a committee meeting for the ATV races was held on April 7th at the Town Line Tavern. Members walked around the field and the track. There is plenty of room for parking, pit area, etc. June 11th is not that far away, and people are needed to help at this event and also before the event. The races will be advertised by the different local media. The Constable Volunteer Fire Department will provide rescue personnel. The next committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 30th.
There is an ATV rally at the Tupper Lake High School on Wednesday, April 27th from 5-8 p.m. Members are urged to attend with their 4-wheelers. There is a meeting place at Kyna"s at 3:30 p.m. and the Tamarack at 4:00 p.m. This rally has been advertised in the media.
Richard Earle distributed the job description for the paid clerical position. Cheryl Boyea from Owls Head is interested in this position. Dave Rhodes made a motion to accept Cheryl for this position. Second by Bob Fish. Motion carried.
April 23rd is the poker run at Belly's. Dave Tavernia will bring the pine bench to Belly's for display and sell raffle tickets on. Packets for new member and hats will also be available.
The annual meeting is on May 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the Sportsman Club. Directors up for re-election are Bob Fish, Jody Warriner, Richard Earle, Larry Fleury. Two new directors are needed as Verna Alien and John Carr are not running for re-election. Present directors are Gerry Leroux, Don Vorrath, Dave Rhodes and Dave Tavernia.
Bob Fish announced that Domtar is still closed to the public. No money has been exchanged for easements. It will be a while before these roads are open. ATV's and snowmobilers are asked not to ride roads during hunting season.
Gerry Leroux is in charge of sending safety tips to the media. The telegram had stated that they had not received any. Gerry will take care of this issue.The $25 registration fee was questioned by Bill Ferguson. At this point it is $10 for the year and it is uncertain if there will be an increase this year. NYSORVA was discussed and it was stated that this is still an active organization.
The next meeting is May 1st at the annual meeting at the Sportsman Club at 1:00 p.m. A motion was made by Gerry Leroux to adjourn, second by Bob Fish. Motion carried.

MINUTES OF 05/01/05 MEETING
Meeting called to order by Ron Phelix at 1:00 p.m. at the Sportsmans Club.
Jody Warriner announced that the FAR website is being redone and will be more user friendly.
Bob Fish made a motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting, second by Jody. Motion carried.
Dave Rhodes made a motion to accept the treasurer's report, second by Richard Earle. Motion carried.
Election of officers was held. There were no nominations off the floor for the positions of president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer. Dave Rhodes made a motion that the secretary cast one ballot for these officers to remain the same, second by Dave Tavernia. Secretary cast one ballot. President - Ron Phelix, Vice-president - Don Vorrath, Secretary - Denise Yando, Treasurer - Larry Fleury.
There are presently 2 openings for directors. Jody Warriner nominated Randy Ashfield for one position, second by Larry Fleury. Randy accepted the position and was named a director. Don Vorrath will talk to Vincent Catlin to see if he is Interested in the other director position and Randy will also contact someone. Bob Fish made a motion that Denise Yando temporarily serve as active director until position filled. Second by Jody. Motion carried.
Larry Fleury announced that Mike Harder will be at the Town Line Tavern at the next committee meeting this Wednesday night at 6:30 to discuss the upcoming ATV races. Constable VFD has offered all their tables, barrels, etc. for this event and they will provide rescue personnel. Mike will go over the set up with Ross Sutton, owner of Town Line Tavern. Larry would like to put up some sign up sheets in different locations for help at this event. Richard will also have Cheryl Boyea call the members for help.
The next FAR meeting will be Wednesday, May 25th . Everyone will meet at the Town Line Tavern at 6:30 to look at the track and a meeting will be held after.
Another meeting will be held Wednesday, June 8th at the Red Tavern at 7:00 p.m.
Discussion of t-shirts and designs was held. Ron passed around the t-shirts and price list. It was decided that Ron order 100 shirts with each design and the shirts will be sold at $12 each.
Richard is in charge of the advertising for the ATV races and he gave out the different prices from the local media.
There is an ATV rally May 5th in Syracuse. Don Vorrath announced that the meetings for ATV rallies has become more organized on a regional basis and NYSORVA is beings upported. He has been to 3 of the meetings and progress is being made. Two more
rallies have been scheduled.
Ron Phelix noted that he would like to see every ATV club and organization get together
and fund a lobbyist in Albany. Theron White announced the different things the
Ruffriders have doing for many years to support the ATV's and he also discussed
NYSORVA's support and how people are starting to notice the ATVers and their issues.
The Tupper Lake rally was discussed. Jody stated the meeting was recorded and it would
be helpful if a transcript could be obtained.
Richard Earle made a motion that we pursue a regional NYSORVA association with the
7 ATV clubs in Region 5. Second by Dave Rhodes. Motion carried.
There is an ATV ride Saturday, May 14th at Kyna Different Pub on Route 11B. Register 9:00-11:00. Cards will be drawn from 4:00-6:00.
Richard asked that discussion of FAR's mission and structure be on the agenda for the next meeting.
Larry Fleury asked if FAR would be in agreement to pay a member, Ron Galion, to maintain the trail from Malone to Canada. Larry made a motion that we give Ron $100 for gas expense to maintain this trail. Second by Dave Tavemia. Motion carried.
Gerry Leroux made a motion that meeting be adjourned. Second by Dave Rhodes. Motion carried.
