John Carter - vocals Ken Lewis - vocals Perry Ford - vocals
Carter and Lewis were a song-writing partnership who formed a group called The Southerners (which also included Jimmy Page and Viv Prince), in 1963. The band didn't last long but Carter and Lewis carried on writing songs for, among others, John Leyton, Jet Harris, P.J. Proby, The Nashville Teens and Brenda Lee. The Ivy League originally teamed up as a vocal group for recording sessions, but decided to put records of their own out in late '64. Their records suffered mixed fortunes over the next two years before Carter and Lewis quit the group in '66. (They would re-unite as The Flowerpot Men for a one-off cash-in on "Flower Power" in 1967).
