It contains technolgy of the 41st millenium, such as explanations of how plasma weapons function, as well as background on the White Scars Space Marine Chapter.
Codex White Scars and Codex Adaptus Mechanicus trial lists for you to try. Both are based heavily on existing armylists and points costs so you can be sure that every thing is fair.
