More than 500 volunteers picked up more than 1,000 bags of trash and debris at 10 designated sites along 133 miles of Ohio River shoreline within Illinois during the 13th annual Ohio River Sweep on June 16, 2001.About 100 volunteers came to Lemont, IL and cleaned up the area between the Canal and the River - collecting tons of garbage - on September 21, 2002
ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2003 VOLUNTEERS WILL GATHER BETWEEN THE I & M CANAL AND THE QUARRIES NEAR K.A.STEEL TO CLEAN OUR BEAUTIFUL RIVERFRONT. (location will be well marked)
WILL YOU BE ONE OF US?
We appreciate our volunteers -
Each volunteer who signed up by Sept 6 will be supplied with a t-shirt in their size, gloves, and of course - garbage bags. If you wish to attend but were unable to sign up by the 5th, please bring gloves, and also dress in long pants & long sleeves due to the possibility of thorn bushes and poison ivy. This is a natural area complete with a plethora of plant species.
