Birthday Surprises
Megan sat in her lit class, twirling her long chestnut hair. Today was her birthday, and the day seemed to drag on forever. Of course it didn’t help that she was looking at the clock every few seconds. Knowing that Justin was flying in tonight wasn’t much help either.
I can’t wait to see him. She thought.

“Megan. Megan! Would you please answer the question?” The professor yelled at Meg. She snapped out of her daze and looked around, blushing slightly. Everyone was staring,
I hate when they do that.

“Umm. All of the above?” Meg said nervously. Everyone laughed at her answer and at that moment she wanted to sink into the earth.
“Very funny, Miss Rite. Try..” The professor was cut off by the bell ringing.
Thank god!
Meg raced to the classroom door, but was stopped by Professor McClain. She looked up at his stern face and smiled.
Shit!
“Miss Rite, do you think we could actually pay attention tomorrow? I’d hate to flunk you. Its not that hard to at least look at me why I am talking.” McClain stated softening a little when a girl walked by and said happy birthday to Meg.
“So, that’s why. Just pay attention tomorrow birthday girl.” Megan sighed out of relief. She once again began her race to her brand new SUV, a birthday present from her parents.
Turning 21 isn’t such a bad deal. A kick ass car, being able to drink myself stupid, all the cool clubs, and…him. She smiled big and started up her car. Foot pushed to the floor, doing 80, she couldn’t wait to get home. The sooner she was home, the sooner tonight would come. She pulled up to her apartment and shut off the engine. She sighed, knowing that tonight would be pure euphoria. To be in his arms again. Oh those arms. There has never been a place in the world that felt as right as those arms. I could live in those arms. Only if he were here now. Meg climbed out of her SUV and trekked up the 3 floors to her humble abode. When she got to the door, she slipped the key in delicately, the lock clicked and she walked in. The room was dark except for a single candle by the door. What the hell? It couldn’t be him..
She knelt down and picked up the rose lying next to the candle, there was a small piece of paper attached.
Just like this rose you hold, you saturate my every thought, my every breath, my every moment. Go to the kitchen, love. Meg smiled as she read the note. She placed her books on the table, set her keys down and headed for the kitchen. She rounded the corner and saw two candles lighting her small table, a gourmet dinner was waiting. She walked over to the table and picked up the next note. They say that this restaraunt has food that is an experience you will never forget. That might be true but you, my love, are an experience that I shall never forget in all of my years. To the living room please.
Meg tasted a bit of the pasta and headed to the living room. She couldn’t believe this was happening. She walked into the living room and the once silent TV was now playing a video. On the screen was herself and Justin, at her prom. She started to cry, they were swaying slowly to the music. She had her chin on his shoulder, eyes closed, a big smile on her face.  She watched for a while longer and then noticed the note taped to the VCR. Meg wiped her damp cheeks and walked to the note.
I remember this day well. It was the night I said I love you. I still mean every word. You are my everything. My soul, my heart, my every ounce of being. I love you, Megan Ann Rite. Now scoot your cute ass in to the bedroom.
A few more tears slipped down Megan’s cheeks. She smiled at the memory that Justin and brought up. That night was everything to her, but this one was even more. She slipped off her shoes and walked down the long hallway to her bedroom. Taking a deep breath, Megan opened the door. Her brain stopped. There he was, standing in the middle of her room, dressed in a navy dress shirt and black slacks. In his hands, one white and one red rose. She smiled at him.
“Now that you’re here, I’m a little nervous.” Justin cleared his throat and began to talk. “Megan, I love you more than you know. More than any words could ever express. I have never been this happy. I long for you when I am away.” She walked to him and touched his shaking hand. Justin continued, “This rose is simply a beautiful white rose, and this is simply an elegant red rose. But when they are put together the represent unity. And unity is what I want for us to have forevermore.” He handed her the roses and she smelled the delicate sent. When she did something poked the tip of her nose. She looked down and nestled inside the red rose was a ring. She looked up at the man before her, shocked. Justin took the ring as well as her left hand, and got down on one knee.
“Meg, my love, my heart, will you make me forever happy, and be my wife?”
well what do ya think?
