Forget Me Not
Audra woke up to the smell of scrambled eggs wafting into her bedroom from the kitchen. She smiled and stretched her stiff muscles. She had met Lance about a month and a half ago. The whole relationship was blur to her. It just happened so fast. They met at Kailey’s birthday party. Kailey is Audra’s best friend, and Lance knew her through Freelance Entertainment. It’s been the best 6 weeks of her life. Audra smiled at the memories and climbed out of bed. The once delicious smell of eggs was now overcome with the smell of burnt toast. Slipping on her p.j pants she trudged to the kitchen. She rounded the corner and saw Lance trying to fan the smoke of his now burning toast. Giggling at her love, she walked up behind him, resting her head on his shoulder.
“Good morning.” She smiled at Lance as he turned around pulling her into a tight embrace.  He kissed her lips gently and jumped when the smoke detector went off. Audra laughed as she watched Lance jump around trying to fan the smoke away from the blaring detector.
“I tried, baby. I swear that toaster hates me though.” Lance said after successfully getting rid of the smoke. Audra made a pouty face and kissed his cheek.
“Don’t worry. The eggs look and smell delicious.” She took a bite “Scratch that. They are delicious.” She fed Lance a small bite and he smiled.
“I did pretty good. I kick some major egg ass!” lance said as he did his little happy dance. Audra just laughed as they sat down to eat there breakfast.
After they finished their eggs, they decided to go for a swim. The hot Florida weather was perfect. When they were done changing into their suits, they made there way outside to the pool. Audra unwrapped the towel from her body, revealing her small purple bikini.
“You look way too good in that, baby.” Lance said hugging her from behind and kissing her neck.
“You don’t look too bad either, Mr. Bass.” Audra giggled. Before she even had a chance to know what hit her, Lance had tossed her into the cool water. She emerged from the pool gasping for air and looking for the joker who did this. She saw him standing near the pool laughing his head off.
“You… are… so… dead!” Audra managed to spout between gasps of air. Lance jumped into the pool and swam to her. She moved away from his grasp.
“Aww. Honey, I’m sorry. I didn’t think you would freak out.” Lance apologized while once again trying to hug his true love.
“Pwease. Forgive me. I love you.” He said pouting. Audra’s defenses broke and she smiled.
“I love you too.” Lance pulled her through the water, into his warm embrace. When she looked up at him, their faces were only inches apart. They both leaned in and kissed, slow at first, but with each passing moment the kiss grew more intense. Just as things were getting really good, Lance’s cell phone began to chirp. They both groaned.
“Dammit. Baby, I gotta get that.” Audra nodded her head and watched him as he climbed out of the pool and walked to the table where his cell phone sat.
“Hello?” she heard him answer. Watching his face to see if it was good or bad news. But his face was unreadable.  The few minutes it took for him to finish the call, seemed longer to the girl waiting in the water. Audra knew that something was up. Lance said goodbye to whoever he was talking to and set his phone down. He looked over at her and tried to smile.
“That was Johnny. I have to be on the bus in 2 hours. We have to make a last minute appearance. I am so sorry baby. I know I said we could spend this next week together. I have to cancel that special dinner I had planed to. We won’t be back in time.” He reached for her hands to help her out of the pool. She put on a smile; there was no point in her making it any harder for him to leave.
“It’s okay Lance. I know that Johnny wouldn’t call you guys on vacation unless it was important. I understand. I’ll help you pack.” She kissed his lips and grabbed the towels, handing him his. They dried off and headed upstairs to pack. It didn’t take long because Lance still had most of his clothes still packed. He walked to the closet and pulled out a few clean shirts and jeans. Audra lay down on the bed, watching him. She couldn’t help but smile as she watched him pick certain shirts. When he started humming her smile only grew. He turned to look and looked at her.
“What?” Lance laughed. Audra sighed.
“I just love you. That’s all.” Lance walked to the edge of the bed and kissed her forehead.
“I love you too.” He looked in his bag once more and nodded. “I think that’s everything. No wait, I’m missing one thing.” Lance walked around the bed and lifted Audra in his arms. He held her over his bag.
“What in the world are you doing?!” Audra giggled. Lance frowned.
“I don’t think your gunna fit.” Audra smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I wish it was that easy babe.” He put her down and picked up his large duffle bag.
“I’ll drive you down there.” She said grabbing her purse and keys. Lance kissed her quickly as they headed out the door. The drive was short, but Lance was acting very strange. When she would ask what was up, he would just smile and say that he didn’t want to leave her. They arrived at Johnny’s house and saw that all the guys were already there and the buses were running.
“I knew we were gunna be late.” Audra laughed.
“It’s cool.” Lance smiled as they pulled his bags out of the trunk and headed over to the guys.
“Spunky!!!” both of them looked up to see Joey racing towards them. He picked up Audra and spun her around in a circle.
“Hey big guy. I missed ya!” Joe placed her back on the ground.
“I missed you too. I was beginning to think that you kidnapped Mr. Bass over here.” Lance blushed.
“No man. We just had a late start.”
“Well you two better say goodbye fast. We gotta hit the road.” With that Joey raced off to the bus. Lance looked down at Audra.
“I got you something. I wanted to give it to you at that special dinner but I guess this will have to do. But don’t open it till I leave. Okay?” Audra looked and the medium sized box he handed to her.
“Okay. I won’t. I am gunna miss you so much.” Audra walked into his awaiting arms.
“I’m gunna miss you too, baby. I’ll be back in about a week. I’ll call everyday.” They kissed once more.
“I love you, Audra.” Lance shouted on his way to the bus.
“ I love you too!” Audra shouted back. The buses began to pull out and as in tradition. All the girlfriends and family walked to the end of the driveway to watch them go. Everyone was beginning to walk back to their cars, for Audra, who was laughing at Chris making funny faced out the back window.  The bus approached the intersection; right as the bus was passing through an 18-wheeler slammed head on into the side of the bus. Audra screamed and fell to the sidewalk. All of the family and friends came running around the corner not expecting to see the horror that lay ahead.
