Nakago is the Shogun of Kutou and the leader of the
Seiryuu seishi. When Yui arrives in the Universe of the Four Gods Nakago's the one who
rescues her and takes care of her for three months. During that time he tries to convince
Yui that Miaka doesn't care for her. Yui refuses to believe this at first, but when she
sees Miaka with Tamahome Yui turns to Nakago so she can become the priestess
of Seiryuu
and the enemy of Miaka and her Suzaku seishi.
Nakago remains the only Sieryuu seishi we meet for some time. Yui doesn't search for
them like Miaka, they are either found by Nakago or drawn to Her. While Miaka gathers her
warriors Nakago concentrates on hindering her efforts. He sends numerous, rather
ineffective, lackeys to deliver messages or attempt to kill Miaka. When Yui wants Tamahome
Nakago is the one to arrange it and to ensure that Tamahome stays in Kutou. Nakago also
takes pleasure in informing Tamahome and Yui in the lack of progress Miaka makes. |
| Nakago is the enemy of Suzaku and appears to be the main
villain in the
series. He does everything to hinder Miaka and will sacrifice any of his own do so. He is
extremely powerful, Nakago has extreme control over his chi, which he can use in various
ways. He can teleport and is highly telekinetic, moving very large objects with seemingly
no effort. He can create destructive chi blasts capable of destroying entire city blocks.
Nakago is the most powerful of all the seishi of the Four Gods, since he is the favored of
the God of War (the God of war is the Dragon Seiryuu) |

Not only is Nakago extremely powerful he is also very
intelligent. It seems as if he has a plan for everything and if one is to no avail he has
a back up one. He is the one who does all the planning of the Seiryuu attacks and controls
the army as it attacks Konan. Nakago is also a skilled manipulator. He knows just what
people need to hear. He can make anyone do as he wishes and most of the time never lets
them see that they are being used. He is a strategist, always with a back-up plan to fall
back on if the first doesn't work as expected. It also helps that he is a highly trained
soldier. When he faces Tamahome he has no problem taking him on. He carries a sword but
with so many other skills he never seems to need the sword. We never see him use it, but
we can bet he's up there with Hotohori. |
Nakago's Past
In the final episode of Fushigi Yuugi we learn about the
past of Nakago. When Tamahome kills him he views Nakago's memories. Nakago is from the Hin
Tribe where they all have blond hair and blue eyes. Kutou Natives hated them and they were
ridiculed often. When a campaign was carried out to destroy the Hin race Nakago was just a
boy. He saw his neighbours and friends were killed, and was forced to watch soldiers beat
and rape his mother. |

At this horrible sight the power inside of him awoke. He unleashed a blast which wiped
out the soldiers but sadly also his mother. The poor little Nakago had no idea what had
just happened.
Since he was a Seiryuu warrior the soldiers could not kill him. He was brought back to
the Kutou palace. Once there the emperor took a liking to him and sexually abused him.
When he was old enough Nakago joined the army and quickly rose to the rank of
Shogun/General. Nakago vowed that he would use his powers to destroy Kutou and have his
revenge.
He planned to have Yui use one of her wishes so that he could become a God, that way
Nakago could avenge his people and build a better world |
