The Star Knight class heavy cruiser Fearless was given to Captain Honor Harrington directly from the builders. Her first assignment was escort and pirate hunting duty in the Silisian Confederacy, but was then part of a "squadron" sent to Grayson in an attempt to get them to sign an alliance with Manticore. Grayson was attacked by its mortal enemy, Masada, while Fearless's task force was still around. Fearless was badly damaged in the last battle of the Grayson war with Masada when the Havenite built battlecruiser MNS Thunder of God attacked Grayson. Fearless, with the help of Commander Alistair McKeon's destroyer, Troubadour, badly damaged Thunder, but it looked as if Thunder would win. The arrival of the relief force under the command of Admiral Hamish Alexander saved both Fearless, and Captain Harrington's life.
