This strat is set out so that absolute beginners go to section (1)
people looking for a guide to how to get a platinum go to section (2)
and experts looking for the fastest strat go to section (3)
(1) This is you first test. It's a simple task of getting 10 kills as quickly as you can.
As with most of the arcade challenges, knowing the layout of the level is essential. Not only do you need to know the layout but you also need to know spawning points, the location of items and also the location of weapons. Sounds scary I know but, I will try an guide you through it as simply as possible.
OK lets talk weapons.
Theres the 2x Luger Pistol -
your default weapon and, in my opinion, the most useful. It fires quickly and can be used in a long range firefight.
The Shotgun - holds 2 bullets at a time and is effective in killing the enemy in one quick burst.
The Plasma Rifle - has 2 functions. The first is rapid fire bullets. These aren't extremely effective against multiple enemies. The second is Plasma grenades. These have a 3-4 second delay before detonating but, can be stuck to any object or person.
The Flamethrower - sets people alight and that's about it.
The Homing Rocket Launcher - can only be found in one place on the level and that's in the basement. It has 2 functions also. The first is a single rocket shot that can home in on an enemy if the green sight turns red when put over them. The secondary function is a tri rocket burst. This, as the name suggests, fire 3 rockets at one time. Its very effective if you are in a gun battle with more than 1 opponent. Using the secondary function when multiple targets have a red lock on will cause the rockets to go after each target at the same time killing them both simultaneously.
Now that you know the weapons lets move onto the strat.
Your targets are:
Bronze - 10 kills
Silver - 10 kills in 5 minutes
Gold - 10 kills in 3 minutes
Trust me when I say that win or lose, no game lasts for more than 3 minutes.
My first basic tip is - use your radar as it will be you best friend in a challenge like this. It will tell you where the nearest enemy is and so can guide you to your nearest victim.
Secondly - try to stay outside even if the action is taking place elsewhere. If 1 person dies then chances are they could spawn outside as there are 6 spawning points outdoors. They could start in any 1 of these.
Finally - Use whatever weapon you feel comfortable with. I personally use the 2x Luger Pistol but, if you feel happier with the Shotgun, then use the shotgun.
(2) Platinum is 10 kills in 40.0
The first thing you should do is go into your preferences on the pause screen and change the 'change weapon' field to Never. Save the changes and continue. Now you can use the 2x Luger Pistol and not have to worry about it changing when you pick up a new weapon whilst in the middle of a gunfight.
There are only a few spawn points that you should play out if you want to make a serious attempt at getting a platinum. If you don't get 1 of these then restart and try again.
1. Outside, near to the health pack behind the building with 1 opponent running towards you.
2. Outside, on top of 1 of the buildings.
3. Outside, on the ledge near to the body armour with 3 or 4 sims below you.
4. Inside, with Lean Molly starting directly opposite you and running off to your left.
5. Outside, up on the roof underneath the bell. Fall off backwards and there are 3 sims to your left.
Most of all the killing for platinum takes place either outside by the 3 buildings or just inside the corridor to the left as you look at the bell. Its not too tough but, it does take practice and a little patients.
(3) Now the fastest known strats
There are 2 places that are ideal to start in. 1 will get you a time of about 25.0 or so but the other can get you a time under 20.0. I'll start with the easy 1 first.
Starting point - on the ledge near the body armour.
What to do - drop off the ledge with a left side-step and kill the 4 sims on the ground near the building on the right. Turn 180 degrees and kill the sim by the main building and then go behind the building 180 degrees from where you are looking now. There should be 1 or maybe 2 sims here just waiting to be killed, so do it and quick. You now need to run to the corridor on the left inside the main building to pick up your final kills. If you get lucky you might have another sim jump down just in front of you. By now you should have 7/8 kills in about 20 seconds. There should be 2 sims fighting it out in the corridor, kill them both. Exit the corridor and go outside again for your final kill if you haven't finished already.
Starting point - Underneath the bell.
What to do - fall off of the roof by running backwards. Turn to your left and kill the sim in the doorway. Through the doorway to the corridor you will see 2 sims, kill 'em both and go through. Look right and you will see a sim spawn with 1 or 2 just behind. Kill them all and quickly go outside. There should be another 3 sims outside just ripe for the killing. After doing this turn towards the main doorway to the main building. Kill the final sim here and bang you have 1 sweet new time. Enjoy.
NOTE: The fastest strat above mainly works for the Gamecube. The PS2 and X-Box versions may vary.
