reporter , there were no military activity around the Hotel where the Media and
the foreign press representatives where staying in Baghdad , the day of the
massacre , for some reason , the americans bombed that place , as a revenge of a
media that is exposing there crimes to the world for the first time , is the
blood of the middle eastern journalists cheaper than that of the others ? it
might be the time for us to reconsider , the one who kills the media that is
telling the truth , what would be he telling in his own media but lies , may be
it is time to hold the remote control and change the channel and watch decent
stations , stations that don't commit murder , stations that tell the truth .

ثلاثة صحافيين ومعارك في قلب بغداد وغموض حول مصير صدام حسين (08/04/2003)

(اف ب) لا تزال معارك ضارية استخدمت فيها الدبابات والطيران
الاميركي متواصلة عصر الثلاثاء في قلب بغداد حيث قتل ثلاثة صحافيين بقذائف
اميركية بينما لا يزال الغموض يكتنف مصير الرئيس العراقي صدام حسين.
وخلال المعارك الجارية في بغداد اطلقت دبابة اميركية قذيفة على فندق فلسطين حيث
يقيم الصحافيون الغربيون ما ادى الى مقتل مصور اوكراني يعمل في وكالة رويترز
واخر اسباني تابع لقناة تيليثينكو الاسبانية وسقوط ثلاثة جرحى اثنان من صحافيي
وكالة رويترز وشخص اخر لم تحدد هويته.
وقال الجنرال بوفورد بلاونت قائد فرقة المشاة الثالثة "ان الدبابة تعرضت لاطلاق
قذائف آر بي جي واسلحة من عيار خفيف مصدرها الفندق. وردت مرة واحدة. وتوقف
اطلاق النار عندئذ". كما اعلنت قناة "الجزيرة" الفضائية القطرية مقتل طارق ايوب
احد مراسليها في بغداد متأثرا بجروح اصيب بها في سقوط صاروخ على مكتبها في وسط
العاصمة العراقية. كما قالت ان احد مصوريها اصيب بجروح.
واتهم وزير الاعلام العراقي محمد سعيد الصحاف القوات الاميركية بانها تعمدت
اطلاق النار على الصحافيين الاجانب واصفا هجماتها "بالهستيرية". ويجري الاتحاد
الاوروبي اتصالات بالولايات المتحدة يحثها فيها على توفير الحماية للصحافيين
كما اعلن باسم الرئاسة اليونانية للاتحاد الاوروبي المتحدث باسم الحكومة
اليونانية كريس بروتوباباس.

Baghdad rages; three journalists killed by US fire (08/04/2003)
BAGHDAD
(AFP) Fighting raged across Baghdad as US troops backed by tanks
and warplanes battled for control of the city in ferocious clashes, with
three journalists killed in separate US strikes.........
Three journalists were killed in US assaults in the Iraqi capital.
Ukrainian cameraman Taras Protsyuk from the Reuters news agency and Jose
Couso, a cameraman from Spanish televison station Telecinco, were killed
when a US tank fired on the Palestine Hotel where foreign journalists are
holed up.
The US military said the tank had fired a single round at the hotel after
coming under grenade and small arms fire from the building. Journalists in
the building strongly denied that there was any gunfire coming from the
building.
Three other Reuters staff members were also injured in the attack.
A correspondent for the Al-Jazeera Arabic television network was killed and
a cameraman was injured after the station's offices were hit in an separate
attack that the Qatar-based network charged was a deliberate US strike.
The US military denied deliberately hitting Al-Jazeera.
Spain said it would ask the United States for an explanation of the Spanish
cameraman's death, which brought to at least 12 the number of journalists
and staff killed in the 20 days since the war broke out.
