This was originally written in 2004 as a source for Audiology and Acoustics links on t'internet. Since then the excellent Audiology Resources site was set up, with a forum for professionals and tons of useful info. I will keep updating this site should it be of use to anyone, but I recommend you go there and sign up!!

Searching Journals advice and links:

Zetoc is good for searching journals, but also has an email alert system (access available for UK Universities and NHS England and Scotland). It will email you the contents of journals you are interested in as they come out, or search through hot-off-the-press journals for a particular topic. For example I initially set mine up to get alerts for "Vestibular", "Audiology" and "Audiometry" as relevant (vague) areas before I got my dissertation project, and full contents of the journals "Audiology and Neurootology", "Audiology Today", "International Journal of Audiology", and "Journal of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology". You need an ATHENS name and password which you can get from your University library or NHS website.

Manchester University info:

JRUL's Human Communication site covers most of the rest of the databases for finding references.
To find a particular paper it's worth checking the library's links first, either:
rylibweb.man.ac.uk/eres/journals.html or rylibweb.man.ac.uk/catalogue/ by selecting title search then periodicals and type in the start of the journal's name, but make sure you type in the exact name else you end up scrolling through for days! This latter option has the advantage that it will tell you where to find the journals in the library.
If you're at home the links often don't give you full access, so type it into google.co.uk and find another way in.

Our Audiology department now have a website: www.newalesnhstrust.org.uk/audiology intended for patients and their families, but with other useful info for students, professionals, etc. I put together the childrens pages as one of my CAC tasks!

And while I'm at it, here are some random sites that I have found useful:

Journals, databases, etc:

Random related sites, lecture notes, etc: Societies:
