All my life, I have lived in Tennessee.....
~~~~
The winding, curvy roads that run through the hillsides, the green pastures, the farmland as far as you can see.  They wind and wind, sometimes they seem to touch the skies...As I look down into the valleys traveling towards the small town I grew up in...I see the wildlife, farmers, the wildflowers on the banks of the river.  It is called Roaring River, it has been told that when the pioneers came across the hills they heard a great roaring down in the valley...you can still hear the river roar today.  As you travel down the road by the river and get closer to the heart of our county...you can see our town nestled in the valley, surrounded by the Tennessee hills.
On the hill, sits the county court house.  It was rebuilt in 1927 after the first one burnt.  It has a lavendar clock sitting on top of the building.  As you travel around our square, the stores, businesses, and flower/gift  shops compliment this small town, going up the hill towards Main Street,  our town hall is in front of our only traffic light, traveling closer to our court house and around the square sits the City Cafe at the corner and  our local newspaper office, (circulated once a week) is across from the town park.  In the park, there is a Tulip Poplar tree, it was founded in our county and became the Tennessee tree.
Down below the town park on Main Street is the building where I work.  It is a beautiful structure, (The First United Methodist Church), built in 1923-24.     It has stained glass windows and double doors welcoming you inside.  I started working there summer '99 and it has blessed my life!  At noon everyday the sounds of the chiming bells from this church echo in the valley to be heard all over the town.  It is the most peaceful, tranquil sound and I love going out to get in my car to go home for the day and hearing the soothing songs of inspiration.
As I travel back up,  and up the winding hillsides by the river to my home where I find peace and love at the end of the day, I look back over into the valley and thank God for giving me the blessings to see the beauty that surrounds me.
The stained glass window is original to the church where I work....click on the window to read some of the church history.
My brother was married at the church in 1990, it was a beautiful ceremony on December 1...they put candles decorated with Poinsettias in all the windows and dimmed the lights...the church has copper ceilings, also original to the church!
It was breathtaking!
