The Jungle

Who’s that in the jungle,
Peeking through the grass?
Creeping to the boundary,
Watching as THEY pass.

Eyes blaze in the jungle,
Body racked with fear.
Feeling as the earth moves,
Means THEY’RE getting near.

Panic in the jungle,
Terrified they run.
Seeking a safe haven,
Closer still THEY come.

Dusty in the jungle,
Coated with the grime.
Kicked up as THEY rushed past,
It will clear – in time.

Hunting in the jungle,
Sinuous surprise.
Leaping out behind it,
Killing where it lies.

Peaceful in the jungle,
For another year,
Moving in slow motion,
Cautious, not from fear.

Who’s that in the jungle,
Watching half asleep,
Schendi’s hidden secrets,
Tell me – dare you peep?
