Al Batinah
          The Batinah province comprises the crescent-shaped coastal area extending from the Oman
       border with the UAE in the north to halfway between the towns of Barka and Seeb in the
       south. To the east, it is bounded by the Gulf of Oman and, to the west, it is bordered by
       the seaward side of the Western Hajar Mountains. Th Batinah area and, in particular, the
      principal towns of Sohar, Barka and Rustaq, bas played a significant role in the history of
      Oman.
             One of the main assets of the Batinah area is fresh water, which is derived from the
      relatively shallow natural subterranean flows from the Hajar Mountains. As a consequence,
      the Batinah area is largely fertile and provides Oman and other countries in the region
       with a significant percentage of their fresh fruit (in particular, limes and dates), vegetables
      and, more recently, dairy produce. The  other important asset of the Batinah is it’s easy
      access to a sea teeming with a wide variety of excellent edible fish. With very few harbours
      along the coast, fishing has generally remained a small-scale operation, although outboard-
      powered polyester boats have replaced the traditional huris.
             About one quarter of the total population of the country lives in the Batinah, with

تضم منطقة الباطنة المنطقة الساحلية التي تمتد من حدود عمان مع دولة      الإمارات إلى منتصف المسافة بين مدينتي بركاء والسيب في الجنوب ويحدها من جهة الشرق خليج عمان فيما يحدها من جهة الغرب الجانب البحري   من جبال الحجر الغربي ولعبت  منطقة الباطنة وبخاصة المدن الرئيسية .منها وهي صحار وبركاء والرستاق دورا كبيرا في تاريخ عمان       
.ويقطن في منطقة الباطنة نحو ربع سكان عمان وصحار هي العاصمة
