Allison searched through her bathroom countertop for a bobby pin to hold her blond hair. “Damn, where is the little piece of shit? Nadia? Kathy? Do you know?! I need it quickly!”
“Calm down Ali.” Nadia said walking into the bathroom that was connected to Allison’s bedroom. “Here is one. I was right in front of your nose girl.”
Allison took the pin from Nadya’s hand and slid it into place. “Thanks. I just want this to go perfectly.”
“It will.”
Allison put some lipstick and looked at herself in the long mirror. It was the night of the long awaited senior prom, and Allison had planned everything out. She had looked in every store in the mall for the perfect dress. The one that Allison found was a beautiful shinny blue one, which had thin straps and fell to her ankles. She pulled her long hair into a French bun, and did her make up differently than she usually did, it made her look very glamorous.
“Tom, Mark and Brad are picking us up at five for the restaurant, right?” Kathy asked, putting on her silver shoes.
“Yeah.” Allison answered. “At least that’s what I told the guys. You can never be sure if they will go through on your plan though.”
“What restaurant?” Nadia questioned.
“I dunno . . . I’m thinking Mountain Jacks though. That sounds really good.”
“Yeah.” Nadia and Kathy both agreed.
Allison smiled. She had actually been in a happy mood all week, and was quite proud of it too! She thought that Nick would be on her mind all the time and that she wouldn’t be able to concentrate, but Nick was hardly a factor in her life anymore. He was never a factor in my life. Allison tired to put into her head. He was just a fluke boyfriend – or even a mistake in my life. I didn’t like him all that much . . . he was just such a superstar that I couldn’t help myself. And I have Mark, why would I want a guy like Nick? Allison could almost hear a little voice in her head naming off the many reasons why she wanted a guy like Nick over a guy like Mark, but she quickly pushed them out when she heard the doorbell ring.
“It’s them!” Allison jumped, and Nadia, Kathy, and herself all gave themselves one last look in the mirror before grabbing their purses and going down to meet their dates.
“Ready for the biggest night of our lives ladies?” Kathy grinned.
“More than ready.” Allison answered.
“Especially since we look simply marvelous.” Nadia put in.
The three girls pranced down the stairs and looked down to their dates, who had been let into the house.
“Clear the path for the princesses.” Brad, Nadia’s boyfriend said.
“Oh stop.” Nadia said running to dark haired Brad.
Allison walked over to Mark and smiled at him. “Well?” She asked, spinning around so Mark could see everything that she had on.
“Nice.” Mark mumbled grabbing Allison’s waist and kissing her forehead. “Very nice.”
“Thanks. Same goes for you sexy.” Allison said looking Mark up and down as he slipped red and white flowers around her wrist. Mark had on a black suit that fit his buff body perfectly. Allison couldn’t wait for the night to begin.
“Ok you guys,” Allison’s mom said walking into the foyer with a camera in her hands. “Time for pictures.”
Allison rolled her eyes. “Mom . . .”
“Oh Allison calm down. You look so pretty tonight, and besides, I want to remember my daughter’s senior prom forever. And I’m sure that you will want to look back on this night forever too.”
The mom led the couples out the back door and out into the sunshine. It was a beautiful day, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Gosh, even the birds were chirping!
Allison and Mark, Nadia and Brad, and Kathy and Tom all stood by some large trees and posed for the camera. “Perfect!” Allison’s mom shouted as she took many pictures. Then she took a picture of each of the couples and soon was finished.
“Finally she is done.” Allison whispered into Mark’s ear.
“It wasn’t that bad.”
Allison almost fainted when she turned to corner to the front lawn. “You guys didn’t!” She exclaimed, putting her hand to her mouth. There was a huge white limo sitting in Allison’s driveway!
“We knew that you girls would like it.” Tom said, smiling along with the rest of the boys.
“Yeah we like it!” Kathy said, with the same reaction as Allison.
“How much did it cost? Must have been a small fortune I’m sure.” Nadia said, walking up to the limo and peeping inside.
“It doesn’t matter how much it cost.” Brad said, opening the door for the girls to climb in.
Allison sat down and felt the soft leather underneath her. There was a TV and radio in the front of the car, and the windows were tinted. “This is so cool!”
“It’s the least we could do.” Mark smiled.
Allison leaned against her boyfriend as the rest of the guys came into the limo.
“Where to?” Brad asked.
“Us ladies were thinking about Mountain Jacks.” Kathy said.
“No . . .” Tom said.
“Hey! Whatever you guys want is fine.” Brad said, as he lifted the phone to the front driver’s part and gave him the directions to Mountain Jacks.
“You should be more like Brad, Tom.” Kathy pouted.
“No I shouldn’t . . . you know I’m better than him.”
“Well . . . maybe . . .” Kathy said as she bit her lip and smiled.
The group arrived at their destination and climbed one by one out of the limo. Mark took Allison’s hand in his and they walked up to the front door and into the restarant, where there were tons of people gathered in the waiting room. They got seated every quickly, and settled into their table.
“Yum, it smells so good in here I can’t wait to order something!” Nadia said closing her eyes.
“Yeah the steak here looks really good.” Tom commented looking through his menu.
“Uck, how can you boys eat stuff like that!” Kathy said, making a face. “I, for one, would take a salad over that fat any day.”
“You are just anorexic.”
“No I’m not! How dare you say that! I just like to eat healthy foods that’s all.”
“Steaks are healthy.” Mark said. “In fact I’ll have one also.”
“Uh, you boys will be fat someday.” Kathy said.
“Not as fat as Nick Carter.” Mark snickered.
“He’s not fat!” Allison said, slamming her glass down on the table, almost spilling it. “Why do people think that?! Your not considered fat just because you’re not as buff as some people! It’s mean, and everyone who says that about Nick is either jealous because they aren’t as hot as him, because they can’t date him, or because they need to find one thing wrong with him, so he doesn’t look too ‘perfect’.”
Everyone was silent at the table for a moment. “Sorry Ali.” Mark grinned, pulling her close. “You know I was just fucking around. Making little jokes. Add some humor to the table.”
“I don’t call that humor.” Allison had to hold herself back; or else she would have defended Nick more than she did. But why did I do that? I don’t need to protect Nick. I should have just joined in with the laughs. But it’s not true! Uh, why do I have to stand up for Nick!
“Jeez Allison I didn’t know that you still liked Nick.” Kathy said, slipping her water.
“Well, I wasn’t standing up for him because I like him.” Allison convinced herself. “I just hate it how people have to make fun of others just to make themselves look good.”
“Hey I said I was sorry baby.” Mark pointed out. “Lets not fight, ok?”
Allison definitely didn’t want to have her night ruined because of a fight about Nick, someone she didn’t even care about. “All right.” She smiled.
“Good.”
When they had all ordered they ate and talked about stuff that was happening with them at school. Although it was more of what was happening with Mark at school instead of the rest of them. It took the group forever to get Mark to change the subject off of him. Allison was worried that he was going to be like this the entire night. Don’t worry about Mark. She told herself. He’s perfect for you Allison. Let him have a couple of faults.
Soon the dates were done and had paid the huge bill and were on their way to the prom in the cool limo.
“I can’t get over how beautiful you girls look tonight.” Tom complimented them. “And everyone matches their dates.”
“Well not me and Allison.” Mark said.
“Yes we do . . .” Allison said, confused. She thought they looked great together.
“Well, you could have worn a lighter blue. And a short skirt wouldn’t hurt either.” He grinned.
“Uh, Mark is that all you think about?” Allison said, hurt that Mark felt this way.
“No.”
However, Allison wasn’t convinced. Every second Mark was getting worse. Allison almost wished that she were with Nick. No! She screamed at herself. I don’t want to be with Nick! Nick has every bad point that Mark does and more! At least I can trust Mark not to cheat on other girls. Plus, Nick never did anything to show that he loved me a lot. Mark has done tons, like taking me special places, buying me awesome gifts . . .
