For our third trip, we went to Long Lake. It's a very nice campground. The price is right. Free. There were not very many other campers at the campground. It was nicely treed and we had plenty of room.
The only problem, yellow jackets, or wasps. They were everywhere! They hung out at the water spickets and around the table.
Did I say the only problem? LOL, was I wrong. It was the hottest day of the year. The lake wasn't even cold. Michael got his first migraine headache. I get them often, so I know what he was going through! He tried to sleep it off, but it was just too hot. The ice melted before the day was over. I had to go to some little place and buy ice.
We soaked in the lake a lot and the kids played with their water bottles. Somehow, we made it through the night without leaving. Michael still had his headache. It just wasn't going anywhere in this heat.
Michael and I cooked breakfast and decided we would pack up for home. While he was cooking the bacon, the yellow jackets were diving right into the boiling grease. He's swatting them as they are diving at us. I'm terrified. The kids are trying to hide. Somehow, we got all packed up and went home. I'm sure that Long Lake is a nice place to camp. We just need to go earlier in the season. Just the opposite of Noisy creek!
