Davis


The lion stands for deathless courage, the cross it's holding stands for protection and the knight's helmet stands for knightly service and devotion to honor. The words 'Je ne changerai pas D'Avis' translate from French to: 'I will not change an opinion.'




Two separate Davis lines exist in this family. The name appears on my mother's side as well as my father's side. I have not found any connection as of yet.

Maternal Side:

Gen 8:
John M Davis was born 1790 in KY. He died 1860 in MO.

Gen 7:
Jonathan Starke Davis Sr. was born 1807 in KY. He died 1866 in MO. Jonathan married Rachel Leah Capps. Jonathan was a country doctor.
Rachel Leah Capps was born 1821. She died 1887.

Rachel Davis was born 1808 in KY. She died 1885 in MO. She married Woodford Jones 16 Jul 1827 in Warren Co., KY.
Woodford Jones was born 1812. He died 1880.

Gen 6:
William Thompson Davis was born 11 Dec 1845. He died 9 Aug 1922. William married Sarah Ellen Jones on 6 Feb 1864.
Sarah Ellen Jones was born 13 Nov 1840. She died 6 Feb 1892.
William Thompson Davis and Sarah Ellen Jones were 1st cousins.

Gen 5:
Lucinda Leah Davis was born 8 Jul 1870. She died 2 May 1949. She married John Null on 25 Aug 1894.
John Null was born 11 Dec 1868. He died 10 Jun 1956.


Paternal Side:

Gen 6:
Henry Davis married Martha Durbin.
Martha Durbin was born 7 Mar 1869 in Webster MO. She died 6 Sep 1902 in Blanco TX.

Gen 5:
Charles F Davis was born 13 Dec 1887. He married Elizabeth Antill.
Elizabeth Antill was born 24 Jan 1891.

Gen 4:
Lee Ann Davis "Nannie" was born 27 Aug 1914. She married Kelcy Rual Monday.
