Everyone at "Totally Steven" wants to wish you
a very Merry Webbie Christmas and a Wonderful
New Year.
For the Webbies Christmas came early this year,
when TPTB at "JAG" gave us a wonderful Webb
episode. We want to thank TPTB for such a nice
gift. What could be better than Webb fencing?
We also want to wish everyone at JAG productions,
especially Mr. Donald Bellisario, Charles Johnson
and Harriet Margolis a wonderful Christmas and a
very "Webbie Christmas".
Most of all we want to wish Steven Culp, his wife
and his entire family a very wonderful Holiday
Season and a very successful new year. Thank you
for giving so much of you to the fans.
Christmas 2002 Toy Drive.
As many of you know by now, every Christmas we send Mr. Culp a very special Christmas
gift. This year is no different and we are asking every Webbie who can to participate
in our Toy Drive in honor of our wonderful Steven.
This will be our third year in a row doing this special project. Through the FOFC's
Sugar Plum Tree project, we collect toys and donate them to children in foster homes.
If you want to participate you can check our Christmas page for all the information.
Christmas is about sharing, and what a better way to say thanks to our favorite actor?
So come on and be a part of it!
"Need To Know"
By Sandra Martinez
Oh where to start! This episode was a Webbie dream
come true in so many ways! From beginning to end it
was an excellent episode and Webb's appearance in it
was one to remember for all times.
First of all, there was the "fencing" scene that many
Webbies have dreamed of seeing so many times. Several
months ago Mr. Culp teased us about Webb being out of
his three-piece suit in this episode, he would not say
more than that and Webbies had a great time guessing.
And oh we were not disappointed! Webbie hearts skipped
when a fencing scene between two persons came on. We knew
right away it was Webb fencing! It was good continuity
for the character and the fans really appreciate TPTB
following through with the character this way. Yes, all
Webbies thought Webb looked very handsome and sexy in his
fencing outfit and basically could not get enough of Webb
in that scene.
But there was much more to this episode than Webb looking
great. There were those emotional scenes between him and
Harm that said so much and gave us even more insight into
the character of Webb.
At first we see how Clayton Webb is trying to stay away from the investigation
being conducted by Harm, Mac and Sturgis. He has been ordered by director to
stay away and not get involved. Harm tries of course, but Webb tells him he
likes his job. Getting involved would cost him, and he does not want to disobey
his orders.
The investigation is an emotional one for Harm. He has
to find out what happened to the crew of a submarine
that went down during a top secret mission for the CIA.
The relatives of the lost sailors have been waiting for
years to know what happened to their loved ones and need
closure.
The CIA tells them there is 'no need to know' and will
not reveal what happened. While Harm is standing in front
of the "Wall of Honor" located in the lobby of CIA
headquarters, Webb approaches him. He tries to tell him
to let go and to stop the inquiry. But Harm tells him
about the hole in the life of all the relatives. The not
knowing, the fact they never even had a funeral for their
loved ones.
Webb reminds him about duty and the fact that the men knew what they were doing when
they volunteered for the mission. Harm's words are now full of emotions. We can see
Harm is hurting with memories of his own experience with his MIA father. But more
interesting is the way Webb is reacting.
The look in his eyes, and the way he stares at the wall. We get a strong feeling
that Webb knows how Harm feels. We get the impression that the name of Webb's
father is on that wall, and that maybe Webb himself has a hole in his life that
needs to be filled.

What the fans said
"I LOVED the first scene of course. He looked HOT.
This was one of those scenes that Webbies have been
dreaming of seeing for several seasons now, and TPTB
finally gave it to us!"
"Well, I know Clay was actually being a very bad boy,
BUT THEY DIDN'T NEED TO SEND HIM OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF
NOWHERE!!!"
"The scenes were Webb were priceless! When I saw him
pull off the face mask and saw his hair all mussed up
I screamed!"
"Speaking of the film, way to go Clay Webb! I just
hope that he manages to find his way back soon. The
Webb/CIA stories are always more interesting than the
usual stuff"
"Webb-he's the man. My friend joked that he was quite
the burglar-breaking in and leaving a TV...usually it's
the other way around"
"Webb's presence in the show tonight was just wonderful.
I certainly hope we can look forward to more episodes
this season with Webb, after Webb comes back from his
banishment of course, or having to do with it. I'm not
choosy"
"I have to say this was by far THE BEST episode so far
this season! I loved every aspect of it. Especially the
scenes with Webb! He added so much to the spice of the
show last night. I hope that we see Webb again very soon!"
"Webb always livens things up! Especially when Rabb or the
Admiral is involved!"
"ITA!! This was by far the best!! I got a little teary-eyed at the end as well.
I have always liked Webb for the most part except for the times he was way too
smug and irritating. I knew it was he who left the TV and tape in Harm's apartment.
I like him even more now. Its too bad though that it cost him"
"Webb, my respect for that man just went up several notches. What an incredibly
selfless thing to do. He had to know it would be traced back to him and that he would have
to suffer the consequences"

"Where in the World is Clayton Webb?"
In the past we have seen Webb in Russia, Australia, and Afghanistan, so where will
we see him next? Well, after the trouble he got in with the Director, Webb’s next
destination is Suriname. Located in northern South America, Suriname’s population
is close to 500,000. Its climate is tropical and within the rain forest, so Webb
should make sure he takes his light colored suits with him.
Suriname is the smallest independent county in the South American continent. It has
a great diversity of flora & fauna that is continually threatened by new development.
The official language of Suriname is Dutch, but English is also widely spoken. The
largest religion is Hindu at 27.4%, followed by Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim.
Suriname exports commodities such as crude oil, lumber, shrimp and fish, rice and
bananas. Their largest export partner is the United States, which is also the largest
import partner. Imported commodities include petroleum, food, and cotton. The military
branch is the National Army, which include a small Navy and Air Force. Their soldiers
are all male, ages 15-49.
What will Webb be doing in Suriname? Besides looking for terrorists, this country is
a growing transshipment point for South American drugs destined for Europe and Brazil.
It is also a transshipment point for arms-for-drugs dealing.
Hopefully, Webb will get back in the good graces of the Director and won’t be away
from us for too long.
The Wall of Honor
Before JAG's episode "Need to Know" aired, a number
of fans did not know the CIA had a Wall of Honor.
Others knew very little about it. However, after
the episode aired fans started to contemplate the
reason for its existance and wanted to know a little
more about it.
The Wall of Honor is something secretive, emotional
and special to many. So it is not surprising that
many fans found the scene between Harm and Webb that
took place in front of the CIA's Wall of Honor, to
be very moving and touching. Given Webb's expression
and reaction in the episode, some fans even wondered
if Neville Webb may even have a star on JAG's version
of the wall that we saw on the show. One thing is
certain, on the "real" wall are the stars of many real
life heroes and many stories that will never be told.
The Wall of Honor was sculpted by Harold Vogel in 1974.
It is located in the lobby of the original Headquarters
Building of the CIA. To one side of the wall is the US
flag, to the other the CIA flag.
Engraved on the wall are these words: "In Honor of those
members of the Central Intelligence Agency, who gave
their lives in the service of their country.
On the wall are 79 golden stars. There are no names or
dates on the stars. Under the inscription and stars,
located in a glass cover, is the "Book of Honor". In this
book are 44 of the names of those honored by the 79 stars.
The names of the operatives honored on the wall are only
written in the book when their indentity doesn't threaten
missions or the covers of fellow operatives.
The last star and name added to the wall and book, was
that of Michael Spann, last year. You may remember him as
the first American Casualty in the war against terrorism
in Afghanistan.
The Wall is a touching, silent memorial that honors those
who died serving their country. It is a memorial that is
not in a public place or popular like the impressive
Vietnam Memorial, but it is just as important to remember
the unseen heroes it represents.
For those who want to read more about some of the stories
some of these stars on the wall represent, we suggest
reading "The Book of Honor" by Ted Gup. This book is by
no means a pro-CIA book, but it gives a good insight into
the sacrifices CIA operatives and their familes have made
through the years.
Fencing, some Webbie tid-bits.
by Carol Preflatish
Webbies learned a few seasons ago that Clayton Webb
competed in the Modern Pentathlon in the Olympics.
One of the events of the Pentathlon is fencing. Fans
of Steven Culp were thrilled to see Webb fencing in
the JAG episode, Need to Know. Curious minds
wanted to know more about fencing and now it's
answered.
The object of fencing is not to inflict an injury,
but to demonstrate an ability to out-maneuver an
opponent to score. There are three types of swords
used in fencing; the foil, saber, and epee.
When using a foil, a point is scored when the point of the blade hits any part of
the body from the collar to the groin on the front of the body, or from the collar
to the hips on the back or sides of the body. With a saber, touches are scored on
the upper part of the body above a horizontal line drawn through the highest points
of the intersection of the thighs and trunk of the fencer when in the on-guard
position. Scoring with an epee is much simpler. When the epee touches your opponent
anywhere on the body, a score is made.
Webb looked great in his fencing clothes. The jacket is a vital part of the uniform
and is usually made of white gabardine, canvas, or stretch fabrics. It should fit
as snugly as possible without restricting movement. If a jacket is too large, loose
cloth will make it easier for a point to catch on the fabric for a score. According
to fencing rules, the trousers must be white and must fasten below the knees. Rules
also require a four inch overlap of jacket and trousers when in the guard position.
A glove must be worn on the sword hand to protect the hand of the fencer. It is
important for the gauntlet of the glove to cover the end of the sleeve when the arm
is fully extended to prevent the opponent's blade from entering the sleeve and perhaps
causing an injury.
All fencers wear a mask. The mesh on the mask is usually made of a lightweight
metal and should be white or a light color as specified in the rule book. Masks with
plastic or canvas trim are the least expensive. Leather trim is more costly and durable
and plastic is easier to clean, but is not as comfortable. No matter what, the bib
should contain several thicknesses of material to protect the neck area.
Two tidbits of information about the fencing scene in the episode. Webb's fencing
opponent was Vivienne Bellisario, wife of creator and Exe. Producer Donald Bellisario.
Did you catch Webb calling her Viv? Mrs. Bellisario was a junior fencing champion
in her native Australia and when her husband asked her to be in the episode, she
readily agreed. Both Mrs. Bellisario and Steven Culp received instruction from fencing
master, Victor Paul for their scene in the show. (Much thanks to Harriet for the
information about Vivienne and the Need to Know episode.)
It has been confirmed that Steven will appear in the last four episodes of JAG this
season, including the cliffhanger!
When Push came to shove……Push lost
By Carol Preflatish
Push, Nevada was about an IRS agent, Jim Prufrock,
who received an unusual fax from a casino in Push.
Finding a sizable accounting error in the fax,
Prufrock traveled to Nevada to investigate.
Unfortunately, the cult-type show was not to
everyone's liking and was cancelled by ABC
after only seven episodes.
Lots of strange happenings went on in the little
town of Push. The more the residents tried to hide
from Prufrock, the more he wanted to find out where
the embezzled money went to. First introduced in
episode two, we saw a shadowy team of high-tech
operatives who monitored everyone and every place
in town via surveillance cameras. One member of
the men in black team was played by Steven Culp.
These men claimed to be from the Gaming Commission,
but viewers suspected more. We find out they came to
Push to search for the same thing that Prufrock was,
the money. It appeared that these three men were
controlling things in Push. At one point, they told
the sheriff that a murder was really a suicide and he
agreed, even though Prufrock said he witnessed the
murder.
Steven's character, Dave, seemed to be the leader of
the group. He was the one who made the decisions and
asked the most questions.
Steven put in a wonderful performance and was the best one in the show.
Push, Nevada reminded me a lot of the old show Twin Peaks, which also had its own
share of quirky characters. The one difference between the two shows was that Push
was actually a contest for its viewers. Each week viewers would watch to discover
clues to use to be able to solve the puzzle and win $1 million. Apparently, ratings
for Push were not up to the standards that ABC wanted. Not even with Executive
Producers Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, could the show be saved from cancellation.
The final clues for the contest were announced during ABC's Monday Night Football
Game following the last episode and Mark Nakamoto from New York, was the lucky winner
who received the $1,045,000 prize.
What the Fans said
"I am enjoying this show, especially the fact that
Steven isn't playing a good guy! Can our guy act,
or what?"
"The three men. Sometimes they talk but each one
takes part of the sentence. I notice that SC's
usually has something to add at the end, and ends
up with the best lines out of the three. Also
noticed how even though they are coming and going
to the same place they each drive a separate car
all the time?"
"The other thing that struck me was the way the three
of them seem to work as a single unit. The way they
talk, the way they act together...they all leaned
forward and put their heads in their hands.. not at
the exact same time, but one right after the other,
no pauses. I can't imagine trying to get the timing
right on something like that...yeesh! "
"I guess the show is okay, I tape it only for SC
otherwise I wouldn't since it is against CSI. Would
love to see SC on that sometime (and not as one of
the bodies"
"What a great line by SC's character: 'And that among
other things is why my socks cost more than your suit'."
"I have to say I got more into the show last night, but
still, if it wasn't for the fact SC was in it, I don't
think I'd be watching"
"I really don't like the show, but I watched it. I really
need to fix my VCR this weekend. SC does a great job with
any of his roles, but I can't see Push, Nevada lasting very
long."
"I think I liked Push better when I was watching it on tape
last week...that Fast Forward button was a god-send"
"Okay, I've been accused of being crazy, which
probably explains why I'm getting interested in
PN. I have just reviewed tonights taped episode
& find myself getting more curious about the
storyline."
"I know the ratings are low, don't care about the
money. But it is almost like struggling through
the first chapters of a book you suddenly can't
put down. I want to know how it's going to end."
"Just as long as those 5 episodes are with SC in them. Then they can pull it from
the line up. Even if the show does stink to high heaven, having SC in there makes
it smell the sweeter"
"He is one of a trio of almost clone like guys!!!! I don't think they can function
independantly of each other. They are fun to see. The best is SC of course!"
Best quote from the show was by SC's character of course: "We'd also advise that the
next time an assassin with a tattoo on his forearm is dispatched to commit a public
murder [that] he wear sleeves."

"The Emperor's Club
The movie "The Emperor's Club" featuring our very own Steven Culp, opened on
November 22nd. We hope you all have the chance to check it out. A couple of
Webbies had a chance to see the movie at a screening on the 20th. This is
what they had to say about it:
"SC is one of the students grown up (which is why we don't see him until near
the end). He has a fabulous scene with Kevin and all the emotions are right on
his face. I think the best part of watching SC act, is watching him. He does
so much more than recite lines. He can very convincingly convey many layers
with his face and posture."
"He looked fantastic (great scene with a tux, YYUUUMMMM!), loved to see him
smile and laugh (just don't get enough of that with Webb)."
"What there was lacking in quantity, SC more than made up for with quality! -
As if we'd expect anything else :)"
"I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say this: we really enjoyed
the movie and Steven Culp was wonderful. He was very endearing and he really
made the entire end of the movie. You could drown in his smile...sigh...what
a cutie."
We are looking forward to reading what everyone has to say about the movie!

A little Christmas Fun
How well do you know Clayton Webb? This is your chance to see how much of a die-hard
Webbie you are. Inspired by a traditional Christmas carol, a fellow Webbie put together
this special Webbie trivia. Think hard, and see if you can remember what things
Webb has given his friends through out the several seasons of JAG.
The Twelve Gifts of Webb
1. The pieces of this gift aided Rabb in an escape.
2. It was a stormy night and in came Webb to give Bud his favorite _ _ _? What kind was it?
3. A royal date for Rabb.
4. Mac had a party to go to, but nothing to wear.
5. This bit of information had Rabb going to Russia.
6. Webb's gift to a diplomat might have been a left over gift to Rabb in the earlier seasons.
7. Switching "gifts" to these people so they could sit and chat.
8. Rabb got to fly this plane for the first time thanks to Webb.
9. Mac got to see this person again over a special piece of paper.
10. Sometimes saying this can be so hard to do, but Webb said it to Harm and Mac;
but did he say it to the other guy?
11. Sometimes gifts are traded which is what Webb did to get a special gift for Rabb.
12. He filled a hole in the life of several people.
