Fann Wong
"
Fann Wong was born in Singapore on 27th Janauary 1971. She studied fashion merchandising at La Salle Internationl Fashion School, after which she flew to taiwan, when she has started her career as modelling. The fillial girl coined the stage name Fann Wong, based on her surname, Fan, and her hanyu pinyin name, Fan Wen Fang, is her given name. Fann answer her pager with "Who Page For Fann?" (as she pronounces her name as "FUN", to which her co-star in The Morning Express, Chen Han Wei, always teases her, "Got people page for Fun or Serious one meh?". Her role in drama serial, Chronicle Of Life, which  had won her the Best Actress Award in Star Awards 1995 and she was the 1st Actress to get 3 Awards at Star Awards, Best Newcomer, Best Actress & Top 5 Most Poupular Female Artiste. In 1996, Fann was the 1st TCS (Mediacorp) who had release her own Solo Ablum 'Fanntasy' and also the 1st to release a Solo Album regionally 'I Live Alone' in year 1997. In 1999, Fann was the 1st Singapore Artiste to take up a lead role in a regional movie 'The Truth About Jane & Sam' and she was the 1st Singapore Artiste to be nominated in the Hong Kong Film Awards for this movie in year 2000. Fann can play piano. Fann has many talents, one of her talent is cartoon drawing and she had drew some cartoon drawings when she published her pictorial book in 2000. And in 2000, She was the 1st Singapore Singer to stage a concert in Singapore Indoor Stadium.  Fann was used to be a hardcore fan of Hello Kitty, she spent thousands of dollars collecting merchandise related to the cutesy doll and siplaying them in a cupboard at home. Her fetish for mouth less cats lasted only a year or so, after which she had lost the interest and gave the collection away. Keeping late night is part of  an artiste's working life, her secret to keep energetic when she was actually suffering from lack of sleep was drinking 'Red Bull'. Instead of diary, Fann has a habit of using photography to capture the moments in her life. Regardless of working or travelling, she would always carry camera in her bag. Althought they are bulky and heavy. She prefers to use Polaroids because they are instant. Sometimes she would give the photographs away to people she meets. When she was bored, she would take out her own pictures with various expressions to serve as a pastime. She even ask her co-workers to take pictures of her while she was working. However, Fann does not like being photographed while asleep; she admit being superstitous and believing that her spirit may be sucked away.
Fann likes to read the works of Taiwanese author Zhang XiaoXian, who specialises in romance novels. Her co-star in The Legendary Swordsman, Priscelian Chan, discloses that Fann could be seen reading durong filming breaks. Fann likes to eat pineapple tarts so much that she had  to visit a hospital once because she had stuffed herself silly. She likes to eat breat alot, reveals her co-star in Looking For Stars, Vivian Lai that Fann would come for filming early in the morning with Bonjour bread and finish the entire loaf all on her own. Fann can turn her water tap (read: cry) wehn she need to. When filming Looking For Stars, she had surprised Vivian Lai when, nearly 3 words into her lines, Fann's eyes begin to well up. Although the Caldecott Hill Princess Fann Wong, is widely known to be friendly and cheerful but she sees herself as reserved, especially when meeting someone for the first time. Back in school, her reports cards would come back with comment like shy but very attentive. That's not really the way others see her. As her co-star in The Challenger, Terence Cao, puts it: the bubbly girl just livens up the atmosphere with her presence, she can even pacify people when emotions run high  during hectic filming days. Fann has a weakness for boots and she always buy one pair per season. That is why we always see her so often in such footwear. She likes them so much that she thinks of nothing of spending $1,000 per pair.
