A1 are devastated after four teenage girls were crushed to death and two remain in a critical condition after a stampede at an instore signing in Jakarta on Sunday, March 18.
The tragedy occurred when the 1,500-strong crowd rushed the shopping centre's exits after the signing was cut short due to security fears. Earlier in a1's Asian tour, a signing at a Philippines store was cancelled when 20,000 fans turned up to see the boy band. The group has a massive following in Asia and both their albums, 'The a List' and 'Here We Come', currently sit in the Philippines top 10.
A spokesperson for the band confirmed they had cancelled upcoming appearances and were heading home to England as soon as possible. "They are devastated and are immediately planning to return to Great Britain. They have cancelled the rest of the tour and their thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed and injured."
