This is a copy of the blurb from
the back of the book. Scott Walker is an enigma. He learned to play electric bass at a very young age and was on stage in his teens. He also recorded teenage pop songs as Scotty Engel. When he and John Maus formed the Walker Brothers their drummer Gary Leeds suggested that they had a better chance of achieving fame in Britain. In London they became pop stars at times rivalling The Beatles in appeal. The Walker Brothers parted to find fame as solo artists, only Scott who wrote his own ballads creating five of the greatest ballad albums ever achieved fame alone. Scott is a very private man and his success was at the loss of his precious private life. The Walker Brothers reformed for three albums and a hit single "No Regrets" before parting again. Scott retired to France from where he emerges occaisonally to promote an album or single. He has only recorded 2 hours of songs in the last 20 years. Scott Walker is an enigma and a genius. |
