In 1995 ten year old Aubryn Burnside of North Carolina found that the average foster child is moved about five times and carries their possessions in a garbage bag. She thought that was horrible and decided to do something about it. That she did. Suitcases for Kids is now a National and International project.
Farmingbury Woman's Club is part of this project. Suitcases are being collected at Wolcott Town Hall and Wolcott Mini Storage, 1140 Wolcott Road, Wolcott. Suitcases will be distributed through Waterbury Youth Services and Connecticut State Agencies.
Farmingbury Woman's Club members are also making stuffed bears to put in suitcases. |
